Ground Rules

(By posting in this forum, you acknowledge that you have read and will abide by these rules.)

The website was continued after the 2013 reunion for the enjoyment of the members.  They shouldn't be subjected to annoying posts when they come to the Message Forum.  Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful.  But be respectful.  This may seem like a private chat room, but 800 of your classmates have access to it (along with ~two dozen of our former teachers), and many more classmates read than participate.

The administrators reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.  Access and participation on this forum is not a right, it is a privilege and abuse may result in suspension or revocation of WHS60s site access at any time.

Abuse includes but is not limited to personal attacks, offensive, demeaning, excessive or nonsensical posts, badgering, foul language, etc.  It is not a place to disparage others, especially deceased classmates.  Posting involving politics or religion are prohibited as they typically and quickly become offensive/demeaning.

We don't actively monitor the forum, but respond to complaints and take action as deemed appropriate.

Did you really run him off or disconnect him from the Classes pages/Forum of 1960-1969?   Whatever happened to Craig Mayfield?

Craig Mayfield (1966)

Yep...it does seem so

Hi Craig,
Happy New Year! I just sent a message to Gary & Joan expressing my thoughts on the decision to suspend you. I'm sorry that so many other Wolves have so closed minds and don't countenance perspective. s that differ from their own. There were probably people who were offended but some  More…

Yes—I wondered why your most interesting posts suddenly disappeared. Melinda is exactly on target. Woodland should not be so intolerant or rather many who post on this website should be more tolerant of a broader range of opinions and ideas. The postings tend to focus on nostalgia, which is fine up  to a point, but this often is extreme. Four example, when planning the 55th reunion of the class of 1962, I suggested to a committee member that having a small morning forum on why there was never a word mentioned about the incarceration of Yolo County’s Japanes-Americans in our US history classes Nor World history classes. Jerry Nakamura was student body president our junior year. John Kimura and I went to Plainfield union elementary together several years and all four years at WHS. Never a word about what happened in the US, California, or Woodland in 1942. Even by 1962. Only when I got to college at Stanford did the topic ever be raised and discussed.

Classmates were advised by email on Dec 19, 2017 of the suspension action taken, the reasons for it, and the conditions for reinstatement.  Unfortunately, those conditions have yet to be met so the suspension remains in effect.

On a lighter note...

Looking for some comfort food for dinner at a local supermarket yesterday, I picked up some russet potatoes and a package of prepared meatloaf that looked good.  On my way to the checkstand, I was thinking if I am making mashed potatoes, why not get hamburger and make the meatloaf too?  It had to be more nutritious than processed food.  But the meatloaf looked good.

Got home popped the meatloaf in the oven and got the potatoes boiling for mashed potatoes.  Happened to look at the ingredients, and OMG.  I will never do that again.

(I once got a breakfast burrito out of a vending machine at a cafe in a Walnut Creek hospital and popped it in the microwave.  While waiting the 3 minutes for it to cook, I read the nutrition label on the packaging.  Cholesterol:   100% ADV.

Just adding my observation/opinion.  I believe the administrators have demonstrated a lot of patience and wisdom in monitoring and managing this group.  I have three groups that I administrate and it isn't as easy as it seems, and at times difficult decisions have to be made.  As far as the suspension is concerned, they waited far longer and had far more tolerance and patience than I would have.  They made the correct decision and continue to do so.  It was a very long process with lots and lots of warnings and comment from the members of the group.

It seems there are a lot of people from our generation who hate rules and standards and feel there should be no limits or boundaries.  This is almost impossible in an open forum.

I hope you are all doing well and that you are enjoying life.

I do not know Craig Mayfield. But it seems to me, rather than booting anyone off the board, no one is being forced to read what he prints. I think it wrong to cut off anyone just because you dont like what they are saying.  tony demaria

Tom Stewart (1969)

I think Tony illustrates my point.  He proposes that NOONE should be removed for ANY reason.  Not for offensive pictures or videos, not for foul and abusive language, not for demeaning or disparaging others, not for revealing private information to embarrass or harass another member, not for ANY reason.  That was my point exactly.  Some from our liberal social culture feel it is anything goes at any time.  I guess I am just greatful he is not the administrator.

Tom Stewer, I so support that people need to be held accountable for their actions.  I don't know what has happened to California in the last 50 years!  Our parents would never have allowed this to go on.  I'm so glad I left in 1973 to live in Texas, I can't say I'm proud to be a Califorinian anymore.  Such a sad state now!  I'm Thankful for all the fond memories I have fo the years gone by, some good and some bad, but I survived and wish everyone could be more respectful of each other views.  I rarely post, but I feel this needs to be said.  So glad to be a reborn Texan.

Joel Childers (1966)

Just to clarify. No topics are prohibited on this site. For instance a discussion about internment of Yolo County Japanese citizens during WWII seems perfectly okay. But I for one have encouraged people to stay away from politics on the site as it seems to trigger people into the kind of heated dialogue you see all over social media these days. Which leads to what is NOT okay on this site. I quote from the rules:

"Abuse may result in suspension or revocation of WHS60s site access at any time.  Abuse includes but is not limited to personal attacks, offensive, demeaning, excessive or nonsensical posts, badgering, foul language, etc."

I'm afraid my old classmate broke just about every one of these rules. It's not so much what he said but how he said it. So feel free to start a discussion about whatever you like. Just be kind to one another. We're getting old and you don't want to give anybody a heart attack.

And again I plead for you to save your "us against them" type of politics for some other site. I can avoid turning on FOX News or MSNBC but it's hard to ignore your comments that show up in my in-box.

Kris Murray (Wicklund) (1969)..... I also moved to Texas in 2009.

I lived in the Dallas area until 2013.  I have two sons and four grandchildren living in Dallas/Austin.  Seems like a lot of Californians have moved to Texas for a better, more affordable life style, but they brought their politics with them and slowly Texas is being converted into another California.  It is now in play for national elections which it never was before, and many say it is due to immigration.

It reminds me of people moving to Phoenix to escape the polution and pollen of other regions of the nation but they brought their trees and shrubs with them and the air quality and pollen count began to escalate.  Go figure!

I have asked to be removed from this board. Free speech is either free ot it is not. Once you start dropping people for the reasons you dropped Mayfield, you have made this board a disgrace to the constitution which I still, after beign a trial lawyer for 34 years, still believe in. Too many whiners in this world already. Tony DeMaria

Aye! Tim Tucker!! The "Squeaker" was mean-spirited, condescending and beligerent; none of which are flattering traits on anyone.

As a natural born Texan who lived there way too long, I've been back in the Golden State since 2013 and feel at home again! Good Grief, Charlie Brown!!!!! This national devisiveness is depressing.

What I need now is a Tim Tucker joke, please.....
