Ground Rules

(By posting in this forum, you acknowledge that you have read and will abide by these rules.)

The website was continued after the 2013 reunion for the enjoyment of the members.  They shouldn't be subjected to annoying posts when they come to the Message Forum.  Forums work when people participate - so don't be bashful.  But be respectful.  This may seem like a private chat room, but 800 of your classmates have access to it (along with ~two dozen of our former teachers), and many more classmates read than participate.

The administrators reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.  Access and participation on this forum is not a right, it is a privilege and abuse may result in suspension or revocation of WHS60s site access at any time.

Abuse includes but is not limited to personal attacks, offensive, demeaning, excessive or nonsensical posts, badgering, foul language, etc.  It is not a place to disparage others, especially deceased classmates.  Posting involving politics or religion are prohibited as they typically and quickly become offensive/demeaning.

We don't actively monitor the forum, but respond to complaints and take action as deemed appropriate.

In Loving Memory of Ronald J. Harrison

Ron J. Harrison, a lifelong resident of the Woodland community, passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2023, in Sacramento. Ron was born in 1944 to Richard and Eleta Harrison of Woodland. He was a 1963 graduate of the Woodland High School. In 1964 he joined the United States Army, becoming a very proud member of the 101st Screaming Eagles paratrooper division based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1968 Ron married the love of his life, Janet Lewey. They were married for 34 years. Ron loved the great outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, crab, and clam. He spent many happy hours at Dillon Beach, or up in the mountains camping, enjoying the open blue sky and fresh air. Ron loved to cook and could be quite the gourmet. Ron was beloved not just by family, but by lifelong friends, and neighbors too. His youthful happy spirit, funny jokes, witty sense of humor, and passionate "political debates" will be deeply missed. Ron is survived by his two adult children Barbra and Jason (Woodland), favorite son-in-law Ramon Sosa, brother Richard Harrison (Woodland), sister Janet Stanley (Woodland), brother-in-law Doug Lewey and wife Chris (Zamora), sister-in-law Patty Towse Harrison (Capay), granddaughter Samantha Caraballo (Colorado), two great-grandchildren, best friend and beloved "partner in crime" Frank Lucchesi, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. His companion of many years, Sharon Zinsli, also survives him. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Janet Lewey Harrison, brother David Harrison, sister-in-law Lucy Harrison, and brother-in-law Dayton Stanley. Our Dad was a very passionate supporter of the United States Military. Donations in Ron's memory can be made to the following: American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Home for Our Troops, or any other military branch. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time. Internment will be private.

For those that knew Mike Blank (1966) but didn't catch the 'In Memory' posting, he passed away Oct 14th.  He had a distinguished career, devoted to helping others initially through VISTA, then the Peace Corps, then the California Rural Legal Assistance office in San Luis Obispo.  I always had great respect for Mike and felt lucky to call him my friend.

May he rest in peace.

On the back of this photo, Mom wrote: "Greg's Kindergarten Class - Halloween party Oct 1949", I'm the ghost in the front row, betweeb Daphre Morgan and Lonnie Chamberlain. This was in the Parish Hall, Holy Rosary Church. Anyone else still have this pic?

You argue in favor of this forum being a policitcal or philosophical platform which I see few engaging in.  It seems to anoy you that people use it primarily as a social media to discuss history, nostalgia, memories of Woodland and Woodland High, and such things.  Truth be told, there are probably more who agree with your liberal views than those who oppose, since it is California. But that being said, few seem to want to enter that quagmire of discussion, and there are hundreds of groups that are based on those discussions.

In my previous life before 1972 I would have agreed with most of what you post, but things changed for me at that time.  Now I am a Christian conservative, but I would not bring that to this group for several reasons.  One is that it would be a vastly minority view and just make people mad, and secondly it is not the place for that discussion.

I would take a wild guess and think you don't support Donald Trump and I imagine most or all of the other members are on that same page.  It is also likely you wouldn't support any of those running against him other than to see him eliminated. If everyone enters into a discussion concerning the terrible Republicans and the virtuous Democrats, and the wonderful things Biden has done for the nation, will it effectively change anything? Will the divisiveness have a purpose and a positve impact?

It appears you are terribly bored since you spend more time in this forum than any other single individual.  If this is what adds value and purpose to your life it is a sad thing. I rarely enter the discussion, although I read what has been posted every couple of weeks.  Creating division seems to be the new American Mantra.

Tom, I have a question for you. Do you also have a 57 Ford with a squeak in the dash? Just asking.

57 Fords were notorious for squeeks

I dunno Tom, two wars we are paying for, 7 million people we have to feed, shelter, teach and care for who don't  speak our language or necessarily care about our country, 32 trillion debt, and a dozen other things to worry about.  Life at our age is supposed to get easier!

In the words of one of our generations great philosophers and poets, "Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream." Why spend your golden years worrying about the trials and tribulations of mankind.

Maybe if I still lived in CA that would work.

As a Christian, I believe God is in control. My job is to trust in Him and to love people, and leave the rest to Him.

TRUE STORY....

In 1984 I lead a group of 30 youth from all around the country to live for the summer in Gibraltar and work with the local churches.  We were visiting a small chapel owned by the Anglican Church and they had what looked like headstones on the walls.  It is called "Kings Chapel". There was a sign that said they were there to honor the men who died in service.

One of the young people who was there that day asked, "did they die in the morning or evening service"?  Leave it to our youth.....

Just wondering Don if that squeek under your dash could be contagious? Seems whenever you hear the squeek, I get a horendous smell eminating from the rear end of my '50 ford.

Could be, but hope not.  .  Something about those old Fords, they just act up at certain times.  Enjoyed our conversation at the reunion.
