JoAnne: yes I was on the same bus. It's first stop was in town of Zamora, then out to the country roads including Rd. 96 after the Mast kids got picked up; we went East on 15 and then into Yolo, where it got filled up. And Becky, you're right about rice burning; it's thought that high particulate matter levels in air are responsible for a lot of the fog. Think back to how smoggy LA was-and probably the rest of CA- in the 60's, and how that has dropped dramatically. I'm sure the wildfires in Santa Rosa, etc. released a lot just last fall to give water droplets something to hang on. Fog for thought.

Class of '68! Our 50th reunion is coming up on June 30th (in case you haven't heard). I'm trying to get invitations out and working off the class list from 10 years ago. If you, or any of our classmates that you know of have changed addresses in the last ten years, please e-mail me the change at pslieberum@gmail.com

It is so much fun to read the posts and see the pictures! Someone mentioned the musical When Our Hearts Were Young and Gay and flashback that my brother, Troy Rollins (65), had the lead in the play! He is doing well and lives in North Carolina!

If we are bragging, my daughter Michelle was the star in her school play in 2nd grade.

She came home from school heartbroken when initial casting was announced; didn't get selected.  Next day when she came home, "mom/dad, I am the star!!!"

We go to the play; it is about the Nativity (this is at a Catholic elementary school in Concord).  As the play progresses, she isn't Mary, she isn't baby Jesus.... oh, that is her holding up "the star in the east" guiding the three kings.

:)

Remember the tule fog well. I was working for the ambulance service in my senior year and one of the hospitals would call for us, in the middle of the night, to pick up blood at the Sacramento blood bank. Couldn't take the only ambulance we had so I had to drive my car. Driving the River road to the blood bank and back, in the dark and in that dense tule fog was truly terrifying.

I enjoyed performing in both Our Hearts Were Young and Gay" and "Leave It to Jane". I still have recording we made of the latter. I was in the chorus.

An amazing 2 letter English word which most of you have heard already.

A reminder that one word in the English language that can be a noun, verb, adjective, adverb and preposition

UP   Read until the end ...  you'll laugh.

This two-letter word  in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is 'UP.'  It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv], [prep], [adj], [n]  or [v].

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?  Why do we speak  UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a  report?  We call UP our friends, brighten  UP a room, polish  UP  the silver, warm UP the leftovers and clean  UP the kitchen.  We lock UP the house and fix  UP the old car.

At other times, this little word has real special meaning.   People stir UP trouble, line  UP for tickets, work  UP an appetite, and think  UP excuses.

To be dressed is one  thing but to be dressed UP  is special

And this  UP is confusing:  A  drain must be opened UP because it is stopped  UP.

We open  UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.  We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of  UP, look UP the word UP in the dictionary.   In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes  UP almost  1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.

If you are  UP to it,  you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used.  It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind  UP with a hundred or more.

When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.  When the sun comes out, we say it is clearing UP.  When it rains,  the earth soaks it UP.  When it does not rain for awhile, things dry  UP.  One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now . . . my time is UP!

Oh . . . one more thing:  What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?

U

P!

Did that one crack you UP? Anyway...

Don't screw UP.  Send this on to everyone you look UP in your address book ... or not... it's UP to you.

Now I'll shut  UP!  (Norma made me do this...)

   Delores Kareofelas    Nov. 7, 1923 - Feb. 2, 2018

Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Jim who died on April 12, 2009. Delores was the daughter of Lester and Eleanor Kline. She was born on Nov. 7, 1923, in Monrovia, CA and was a lifelong California resident.

She spent her early years in Southern California and graduated from Burbank High School. While working for North American Aviation, she met and married Jim Kareofelas. The family moved to Woodland at the end of World War II. Survived by her sisters, Grace Prueter and Eleanor Kinsella (Frank); sister-in-law, Georgia Scribner; son, Greg Kareofelas (WHS 1962); daughters, Sue Russell (WHS 1964), Jean Kareofelas (Romie Holland) and Patti Neary (Don).

Except when he was in the military, Jim and Delores were never apart now they are once again together. Delores was a wonderful mother and her children referred to her as the "Best Mother Ever", which always brought a big smile to her face.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and David Kline; sisters, Rita Sauer and Mary Kocher. My condolances to Greg and Sue (Kareofelas) for the loss of their mother.  So sad to hear of her passing.  However, I'm excited to hear that she was a devoted Christian and right now there is a party going on in heaven celebrating her arrival.  God be with you and your family at this time and give you peace knowing you will see her again in heaven.

So here's the deal (Class of '68),  on Facebook, search for "Woodland High".  Ours will be the #1 answer.  Or you can use the URL: https://www.facebook.com/groups/151226975591644/

This is way too techy for me, but my co-administrator says this will work.
