That picture was in the Democrat and taken in 1956, 60 years ago! The festival was held on April 24, 1956. Cacheville had the largest playground, so we were the host school. Jo Ann, I have lots of my Mom's 35 mm slides of your class and this event. Vern, could one of the girls be Donna Van Dalsem? Your school performed a dance called "Hook and a Whirl". I also found the program that lists Zamora, Dunnigan, Laugenour, Grafton (Knights Landing and NO relation), Willow Oak and Cacheville (Yolo) as the schools participating and all of the students. Mrs. Edith Gallup, Mr. Arthur Eve, Mrs. Anna Westesen and Mrs. Icey Wallace are our teachers listed, but I added their first names. The other teachers were from the other schools and I don't know their full names.

My computer has been playing games and I can read all of your postings but haven't been able to answer.

It still breaks my heart to see the old main building being torn down. I live in Fairfield now and the old Armijo High School building was about the same vintage of our WHS. It was converted  into part of the county judicial buildings about the same time Woodland destroyed our high school and it is still standing.

Old story about the main building. My Dad (Dude Knight) was class of 1930. A new kid from I think Louisana came to school and asked Dad if it was all right to smoke on campus. Dad said that sure, there was no problem. So Gale Longee lit up, walked up the front steps, and got busted in the process. Carol and Don, I don't know if you ever heard that story, but our dads became fast friends after that and remained so for the rest of their lives.

Yes, Craig, but will he be the same Jon Snow!  Everyone knows what happens when a witch brings you back to life...you never know what will happen!

"THE GREAT BIKE RIDE"  One day I was looking out of the window of my dads little store by Cache Creek and what to my surprise I see Darla Lovvorn walking home.  She lived North of the sugar factory by the Wallace Ranch. Darla was one of the cutiest girls at Laugenour and several years older than me.  I saw this as my big chance.  I jumped on my bike and visualized us riding off into the sunset.  I caught up with her walking down the Olive Lane and offered her a ride.  She accepted and got on the bike and off we rode.  Sadly, nothing ever came of it...but it was still the best bike ride of my young life!  Even at 11 years old, I was a big dreamer: Circa: 1953

Just read this in a magazine article...nice little twist if it's true:

"As we know, lovely Daenerys is not in Meereen, so Tyrion and his crew are looking after her dragons, Viserion and Rhaegal. But without their mama around, they don't much feel like eating. So Tyrion has to try to get them to gobble something up before they do themselves damage.

He heads down into the dark, scary place where they're being kept. He hangs out with them for a while and they seem weirdly okay with him being there. I mean, let's be honest: most other people would have gotten a good slaughtering from those dragons within about four seconds of turning up. So how come they like him? Is it because he's actually one of the prophesied "heads of the dragon"? According to the theory, Tyrion is not the son of Tywin and Joanna Lannister. Instead, he's the son of Joanna Lannister and Aerys Targaryen, aka the Mad King, aka Daenerys' dad. If this is true, that would make Tyrion Daenarys' half brother! With Targaryen blood, he might be a future dragon rider himself.

White hair, eh? That sounds more Targaryen than Lannister to us …

At Laugenour, while in 1st or 2nd grade, I made the determination that I could do twice as much if I held a pencil in each hand while doing my school work. Mrs Weiss saw what I was attempting to do and ask Dolores Domingo, who was several grades ahead, to help me. Dolores was about as kind and caring person I have ever met. Dolores came over to me and assessed the situation and then calmly explained that if I consentrated on only one hand, I would be able to focus my efforts and go faster. That made sense to me. Thank you Dolores.  Circa: 1949

That's Alan Clements second row, Alan Drever was a Dingle I think; Is that Santi Miguel?, then Brian Guisi maybe (?) next to Richard.

Where's Stan Brown when you need him?

JOHN DAVIS: That's Alan Clements second row, Alan Drever was a Dingle I think;

ROBERT: Yep, I think you are correct John.

JOHN DAVIS: "is that Santi Miguel?,

ROBERT:  I don't know. It might be him and maybe he did not move over with us to Lee Elementery/Junior High School.

JOHN DAVIS: then Brian Guisi maybe (?) next to Richard.

ROBERT: That is who I thought it was but every photo I have of Brain Guisi in a class  picutre is with glasses.  I think it is Bryan Guse.

Dan Ree (Ree) (1964)

Norm Kendall will always be a great person in my eyes having serve with him on The Woodland Police Department....I remember I was working grave yard and one of the other officers brought in a male and female suspects.  I arrived after and sat down to do a report and was called in to the dispatch room by one of the officer's...standing next to him was the male suspect and as I walked in the male had a gun on us( apparently the female had hid a small gun on her peron and walk three officer and two dispatchers into the jail.   We heard Capt. Kendall drive up with Officer Turner and we yeld " they have our guns"......All of a sudden, gun  fire rang out.  After we we were let out and found out Capt. Kendall shot through the window and wounded the male.   Both were taken back into custody.   Capt. Kendall was our hero...he was a proud police officer and a great friend...RIP   Captain!

Nice story Dan about Captain Kendall in charge of the situation within minutes.  You were lucky to have worked with such a man.  Seems those days were a little more simple without as many drugs and guns everywhere.  Hats off to the men and women who keep us safe, and many things we never really hear about when they do their job.

Duane Jackson (1965)

Thanks Dan for that great story, yes the old days before the thugs and such got more rights than the victums, any way I also remember Capt Kendall.......He welcomed me into the department as a new Reserve Police Officer, and every time we passed in the halls of the old station and the new, (at the time) he always had a smille and kind word to pass along.  He seemed to me to really like the work and effort we as Reserves gave to the City of Woodland, as did most of the regulars, of course some ot them didn't want us around, but Capt Kendall and Asst Chief Barton were ever so kind during my time and training as a Reserve for the City of Woodland and the Woodland Poilce Dept. Thanks to the family for sharing him to us all.  as a fellow Vet, I salute him and his service in WW II...........RIP Sir!

Jean Duncan (Miller) (1968)

My husband, who did not grow up in California, and I were reminiscing about childhood games and activities  played outside.  After going through quite a few I mentioned 'Ditch', which he had never heard of.  All I could remember about Ditch was that is was sort of like Hide and Go Seek.  Anyone here remember that game??

Buni Murphy (Panick) (1964)

Hi Jeanni, Billy and Smokey use to play this with me and as you can imagine they ditched me. If it wasn't for your mom, I'd still be looking for them. You would think after the bug incident I would have learned.
