Hi Wolves,

Enjoyed reading the forum. Hope this mnessage finds all of you in good spirits and thoughtful

The following is a passage from a well known book, which those of you who are widely read will recognize. It is more elegantly stated than my humble skills allow:

When you see trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming self sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed.”

I don’t believe we are yet doomed, but if we do not heed the message this passage implies we soon may be. A hint - No one political party fits, what is required can be done by all. We just need to find a way back to it.

Hi JoAnn, say hi to Dan for me.

Wow!  I have some catching up to do!  My middle son got married in our backyard overlooking the lake this past weekend, and we're still enjoying the memory.  AND, my California family is here staying with us, as well as my grandblessings.  So my response will have to be a quick one for now.

First, political discussions can be healthy if we seek to understand another's viewpoint without trying to change their mind, that's not the purpose of these discussions, in my opinion. And I believe our great country deserves us putting a great deal of thought into the upcoming election.  We might just learn something new from both sides....not that it will change anyone's mind.  wink

Allow me to apologize profusely for using ONE incorrect word (in my last post) that has garnered much response. TRUMP owned the (then defunct) Eastern Airlines.  It WAS one of HIS planes that was sent from "Trump Airlines".  It wasn't Trump's personal plane he uses today.  He didn't have to send one of his planes, but he did.  And, anyone who does serious research knows that SNOPES  is NOT a reliable site.  (Thank you Rich for expounding on the bias of that site!)  Unfortunately, "they" are trying to control the information we receive, which makes it very hard to find the truth; albeit not impossible.

And, about our country's Top Secret Documents, I hope its plain to all that Hillary lied, and lied, and lied about them.....yet she got caught in her lies and the FBI Director outlined his findings....she is guilty....Robert is right, anyone else intrusted with secret documents would be punished severely...but why does she continue to be above the law?  There is more to this than meets the eye......

Gotta run......

Last time on this one. Trump airlines was in bankruptcy during the time the troops were picked up. It was in such a state that he was considering selling his personal jet. His airline had a contract with the military to ferry troops from varioous sites thoughout the country. General Kondra was in charge of all this at the time and chose a Trump airline plane sitting on the ground to ferry the troops. This was not Trumps decision, through contracttural obligations. This is not from Snopes but rather various news agencies.

Congrats on the wedding overlooking the lake.

Craig - I must confess, I sold my home in the Hamptons to Joel Childers for a song but when he started to sing I made him dance too.  It was nice !  Maybe he will invite you down sometime. . . . and another thing . . . I am going to name call, politcally .  . .  O o  o o Craig,  . . .you Democrat, you!  . . .  There, now back to Hewie and Dewy, or Meanie and Minnie, or Larry and Moe or Winkin and Blinken . . .I'm Nod'n off.

Craig.  We all want to pay much less.  I wouldnt feel to bad about paying taxes if it wernt for the fact that everyday in the news you see how the government has misused our tax dollars and then they want to raise taxes  more to make up for their missteps.  Every time government has a half assed idea they want to raise taxes to fund it.

Yes...Craig we F...things up again.....lol........but what else is there talk about these days...The days at Old WHS gone even the building from the Coorupt ones that made that decision..probably not around now......No one listen then....but we must remember those days and look at today..It sucks today.....In closing...Just Vote Folks...If you screw that up well you will be one of many...If talk was a positive way to get things done in the right way we would not be in this crap hole............Like they said back in the 50's and 60's If It Is not Broken do not fix it...but we want this new way.......Did anyone here from 1960 to lets say 1966 hate Woodland that much or the way our life was then..........If yes .......you have your wish granted...be very carefully what U wish for and buy another gun....Yes Craig I did it again...I guess I stayed too silent at WHS so long it came out...really I do not care what one thinks...you lived your life this long...look in the mirror and say did I do good job with my life  !!!!!

Cowing -  Thank you for the house, but you forgot to leave me with the key. Unfortunately, my dancing days are over (bad knees) and my singing days never began. Are we hopefully maybe drifting away from politics here? Good! Forget the house. When I was about 16 years old, I would go down to the Electric Garage at 3rd and Main and I would sit  in a 1959 - MG-A 1600 Roadster that they had for sale in their used car lot. (The most beautiful car ever made. Google an image of it.) God, I loved that thing and always dreamed of owning one. I didn't have a license then and I never got to drive it. Anyway, if you happen to own this car, please send it to me so I can be reunited with the love of my life. I am unable to buy such a car because my wife is a cheapskate who chose to send our kids to college instead of allowing me to indulge my fantasy. She said the only way I would be driving a sports car is over her dead body. Hmmmmm....she would make a helluva speed bump.

Joel, sounds like the wife is a speed bump all ready.  Say hi to Brian for me. I wish I was up there . But I have a speed bump also.

Jenny Johnson (Norman) (1966)

Speaking as an ol' speed bump here - we had a lot of fun cars over the years. We had a '32 Ford Roadster once that used to overheat so bad it melted my shoes!  My favorite, though, was a little red "62 MG Midget.  Really cornered great on those Colorado rocky mountain switchbacks!  I got to move Mr. Teal's Jag once at one of the HS fund raiser car washes (probably for the band).   Would have been satisfied to just sit in it but when they said I could move it (about 20 feet), I was really freaked out!  Sorry you never got your Roadster, Joel. Bet you clocked a lot of miles in it in your imagination.  Looks like a really nice ride.

08/16/16 07:42 PM #2815

Robert Cowing (1965)

Joel - sorry about the "keys thing" . . . i was really hoping that it would never come up . . . I'm glad you did not remember the incident of me throwing the keys at you, running like hell because there was a large covey of angry IRS gumshoes on the end of that key-chain.  I remember playing golf with you in Eagleton's golf group that played only on the week-ends. I hoped that you would not recognize me since your golf game was better than your song and dance routine. . . . AND now I know why you never talked about your wife . . . poor thing.

Speaking of the Electric Garage . . . and you sweating up the upholstery . . . was Lloyd Gray working when you were sneaking in there?  He was my neighbor for about 20 years. Bought the house on the south side that belonged to a guy I thought, for sure was a spy. His entire basement was full of CB and electronic equipment.  Turns out he was working with naval intelligence and spent a lot of time out at the relay station that later became D.Q. University between Winters and Davis

Lloyd used to give me "Duck Bombs" every July.  About a 1/5 to 1/4 stick of dynamite, throw them in the water . . . heck of a noise.  There were great.

I see that Brian is a member of www.Classmates.com   A large number of alumni have migrated to that Alumni site.

And Craig . . . "fat cat" ? . . . no, fat for sure, based on WHS graduation day stats and I have a cat. He is Jewish, named 'Isaac." . . .  AND  . . . any tax returned to me is not going to you, I don't care what you say.  I am keeping it all ! . . . speaking of cats, that one in your photo with the kid catching a fish?  That cat is a taxidermy bad dream creation, stuffed and looking a little seedy.  Well . . . that about covers it.

Jenny. I remember driving Mr. Gordon's XKE. Also Frank Elston's Cadillac convertible, red w/white leather. Both sweet rides. And then there was my Corvair Monza and 56 Chevy.

Jenny Johnson (Norman) (1966)

Hey, Mike - was it Mr. Gordon's?  I'm sure you're right. What a kick!  I remember your Corvair.  Remember the little red Falcon?  Drove a '69 Plymouth Fury, 3 speed on the floor in SF.  Clutching on those hills was offensive! Course, my driving was offensive anyway. Wish I still had my Dad's '57 VW bug. VW bug was the way to go on those hills if you had to drive; hand brake and all. SUV Tank was perfect for So. Dakota winters and went gold mining down near Quartz, AZ in a rented mini-cooper.  Still, the Midget was my favorite, although it didn't do very well in those Wyoming 8' snow drifts.

Joel Childers,

Is this the MG-A??

No you're right, it's NOT, but it's NOT Mr. Gordon's XK-E either!

But the XK-E does live in Woodland, now. Sometimes it's at Mojo's on the third Thursday car display.

And to drive Sherry crazy: The Vikings won't win their division, GO 9ERS!!!

For Mike Miller's eyes only.....lol

My last additional comment on the Trump Plane.  People like to put their spin on this story because it's an election year. Currently Trump owns his OWN plane as everyone knows, however, as I said, back in 1991, this wasn't the case.  He owned an AIRLINE - the then defunct EASTERN Airlines which Trump bought and owned for a short time.  Changing a word "here and there" can change an entire story and this one is no different.  As you now know, this wasn't  "a rescue mission" but a logistics SHORTAGE issue.  The US Government contracted and asked for help from various companies such as, GMC, FORD, Food companies, bottled water companies and AIRLINES.  The "under contract" airlines at the time were DELTA and US AIRWAYS.  Eastern Airlines wasn't part of the procurement as they were in dire straits, financially and werre recently purchased by Trump.  We had committed only a few civilian airlines both from the US, Canada, England, Poland and Germany.  Russia was asked but did not participate.  SPAIN was asked but did not participate as were the countries of Mexico and Japan Airlines- all citing they didn't want to show involvement.  When we were getting the troops back home, these airlines were under contract; however, when Trump learned of these shortages, he VOLUNTEERED to send one of his own planes to assist. This wasn't a "rescue" mission, but it was a mission never the less that Trump put up his own plane to fill a short fall in logistics. This story was verified. FACTCHECK is another website people use to verify such stories. However, FACTCHECK.ORG is owned by the Annaburg organization.  Obama was once the "Chair" and they to try to disclaim this...but I don't care what anyone says, Trump sent ONE OF his planes to help, just not his personal plane as the story is being touted (spun).  Now we have beat the dead dog to death and can let him alone....lol

And, Mike, thank you for the tips on whom/where to get my news information.  However, since you have prejudged me as only having conservative ears, I need you to know that I listen to ALL the news channels and talk radio channels, as well as research past news articles from early newspaper years (before the media became so liberally biased).  I also watched both the RNC and DNC...how about you?  I really do my own research and draw my own conclusions.  wink

Thank you for the kind words about the wedding, it was very nice.  My California family left this morning; now I'm babysitting my 7 mo. old grandson who is running me ragged!

Thank you to others for allowing some of us to have political discussions for a few weeks as this election year is vital to the future of our country!

For Joel Childers' eyes only....angel

I don't really see Hillary as being perceived by most Americans as the lesser of two evils.  She has a big megaphone with the MSM and its working on some. Yet, she holds a rally and the room is small, the people invited are primarily "selected" and the enthusiasm isn't there.  I don't believe the real evidence substantiates the results of the phony polls.  Many of the pollsters are PAID, and who are they?  Some are Congressmen Staffers calling others are on the payroll.  A few weeks ago, (2-AUG) an independent poll was done by a number of UNPAID college students to call 1,000 people per state to see how they're going to vote. The goal was to hit 50,000 people.  The response was (see below).  This data matches Trump's rallies and his support from other sources.

Many Trump supporters have either not voted in the last 2 elections, or this is their first time, or they switched ONLY because of TRUMP.  My point is, those pollsters?  Most get names from the last election, what they can't count (because there's no record) are the people who are NOW voting for the first time, or first time since 2000-2004.

I do say, Joel, this is an election like none other. It's really hard to predict. And there's voter fraud to consider. Like I always say, I'm not afraid to die, I just don't want to vote Democrat after I'm gone.  lol

Craig, I think you wanted to know what upsets me about Hillary and the email issue?  She will do anything to become POTUS....she's a pathelogical liar. Here's just one video link you may have already seen, but if not, here tis!  Liar, liar, pants on fire!

How could we ever trust her to lead our country in the right direction when all she does is lie, she doesn't care about 'we the people'. And, apparently, this administration has blocked any charges that could be brought against her.  The Clintons live above the law.

(Hope the link works for you, if not copy & paste it!)  wink

Sherry. Way too much writing about whatever it is you were writing about. Just for your record, when I do watch tv it is fox, msnbc, cnn, cnbc and anything else that has political news on it. I watched almost all the republican convention but none of the democratic as we were in Italy. I have never been a republican, nor democrat. I worked for the Reagan for governor campaign, voted for both Bushes, and can't stand Bill Clinton, for personal reasons, very long story.

I believe Obama has been given a raw deal with his lack of support from congress for a lot of great legislation he tried to get passed but was blocked, or completely ignored.

I also know that it's hard to change a persons mind about engrained political views, even when in my heart, I think I am right. So I rest my case, hold my tongue, and will carry on.

All my best...M

Ahhhhh, nothing like Sex, Religion, Politics to get folks spun up...Me I like my sex in the bedroom, religion in church and lastly politics in the voting booth, but what do I know....I do know everything changes ever two year for the later.....as for the others, they keep going on until we either get a new trophy wife, or dislike the preaching of the local minister so we move on........I sort miss the old days, but with some of us dying off early, our group gets smaller everyday........I still get a hoot out of the Southside folks against the Northside folks, seems that's where the money was in the south off gibson road and such.  I remember the different cliques (I spell that right?) that ran the halls of WHS, and I still some of that at the last reunion my 50th.......There are members of the different classes that have never made a reunion over the years, reunions beneath them.........Me I had different levels of friends, the ones that stayed wirh during those WHS years are the ones who I enjoy the most and still do, those are true friends......So the long of it, Beauty, Brains,  Satirest and others, keep spinning, it makes for good reading...I leave with the wishing of  Good Health and Happiness, time is getting shorter, just not for me................
