Jeff. My spouse doesn't know anyone a the reunions. She enjoys watching me interact trying to count how many words I get out with only one breath. Then she laughs, yells to me to stop talking and takes a picture. Very sweet but a little sadistic. Gary. The count seems low  hopefully more will sign up.  Always great to see old classmates and reminisce. Craig. You're right my friend. Viele jahren since seeing you as well. Hope to see you at the reunion. I'll be the one talking nonstop.

Gail Smith, you are so right about class reunions.  However, I have been to all of the 1964 Woodland High School Reunions and even attended for the Class of 1962, my sister's class and my younger sister's class, all have been so fun.  Must say that most of the partners all seem friendly and I enjoy meeting them all.  The last Class Reunion for the Class of 1964 was just a total ball of fun at the Woodland Hotel (so lovely)  - good food, good music, and good company.  I hope we have another 1964 gathering soon with everyone attending.

Lynn, you are so right! I had the privilege of knowing Fred, and during his illness he always stated his trust was in the Lord. Looking forward to seeing him in eternity.

Hey Craig - There is/was a golf course in the Sierras that has a resident red fox that steals golf balls from drives.  You get a free drop and you have to provide your own 2nd ball.  Sorry, can't remember the course name.

Speaking of critters stealing golf balls. Every time I played golf at the Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley, the resident coyote would watch us drive, then steal our ball! It was comical.....wish my photos weren't buried in the archives! The experience was worth the ball loss. Could there be an animal conspiracy afoot? Lol

Craig replied - " Craig Mayfield (1966) This ain't Reynard, Robert..."

I am not sure Craig what you refer to as "this" in the above sentence.  But in the spirit of William Jefferson Clinton, " 'is' is 'is.' " . . . or was it  " what is "is" ?

I had to look old "Reynard" up to see if i could find a connection  . . . this is what I discovered:

Of course, Craig, you would use something French, but the intelligencia rely upon them heaveily - in short . . .

"Reynard The Foxhero of several medieval European cycles of versified animal tales that satirize contemporary human society. Though Reynard is sly, amoral, cowardly, and self-seeking, he is still a sympathetic hero, whose cunning is a necessity for survival. He symbolizes the triumph of craft over brute strength . . . The main literary tradition of Reynard the Fox, however, descends from the extant French “branches” of the Roman de Renart . . ."

From my description of the fox, it could very well be at least a descendant of Reynard ? !

Does look like a very high and small green with flag with disagreeable players hawking around the green?

A posting from Janet Levers... Dutch Miller's: "Fred Miller was born into a family that was part of a proud tradition in Knights Landing."

This found in an American Legion newsletter from 2008:  This year, Don Plank is adding to the menu the old secret recipe mustard from the long-closed famous Dutch Miller Saloon of Knights Landing.  OK, who has the recipe???

My husband, John, has fond memories of Dutch Miller's. He and his buddies used to stop there when they would go hunting or fishing. This was when he was stationed at Travis AFB, before I met him.

Love the old pictures of Woodland and the area.  You can really hold on to this history when you see those pictures.  Woodland was a big hunting and fishing area for sure.  This one historical picture of Woodland shows the buildings which still look the same from the Main Street of Woodland.   Old and New.

Craig Mayfield said: "Well, Robert...as you were/are? somewhat of an artsy guy (drama, etc.)...I figured you knew about "Reynard" the fox"

Craig, I was artsy fartsy, yes,  . . . more fartsy as I get older . .. not aware of The Fox, but do recall somewhere of his connection to Chaucer.  I didn't realize his WHS connection.  When I worked in Alaska, always on the look-out for wolves but saw only grizzlies and black bear.  Wolves now in eastern Oregon . . . but no orange ones. Must be their diet or aversions to Californians.

Craig: "...through the years mythologized as many things...Trickster, Shaman, etc...BUT, the Pic is a Wolf...Guy was a punk rocker into orange dye...and supported the Woodland Wolves...lol"

In the so called old days things were made in america. They were built to last and if something broke you could fix it. Today everything is throw away. People loved and respected our Country and our flag. There is not so much of that anymore. People like Colin Kapernick and alot of us dont have enough sense to realize what this Country has done for them and the rest of us with the freedoms we have.I would much rather live in the olden times where life was slower and people were more self sufficent and respected each other more.
