  Happy Easter

I am thankful for Jesus Christ, for His miraculous birth, His perfect example, and for His atoning sacrifice, so that as we repent and strive to obey all God's commandments, we may return to Heavenly Fathers presents, when we have finished our work here on earth. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Dear Mr. Robert Cowing, thank you for all your work on those people who have pasted.  The history of their lives is so interesting to learn.  Had some problems with getting into the Forum, but every now and then I manage to get in to write a note or two.  Rick Gonzales wanted to also thank you Robert for posting the article about his father being honored with the park name.  He is very appreciative of your work on the Forum.  We are now into some lovely weather, a little less rain.  My roses are just loving this Spring Time.

Ed Kindelt, WHS 1958.  Ed was several years ahead of me but I knew him at WHS. He was a fun loving guy who was loved by all. The caption at the bottom of his senior yearbook picture describes him pretty much as I remember him.  RIP Ed.

I knew Ed Kindelt in a couple of ways.  He coached our Babe Ruth League baseball team (Jeff Barrow's dad Ben's business was our sponsor), and I remember going hitless for my first two years in the league (tho' I was an OK second baseman, or at least so I think).  I kept pestering him as my third and final season moved along-----"Am I ever gonna get a hit ??  Am I ?"  Though I'm sure all I was doing at the time was bugging him, he never let on and was always upbeat and encouraging about it.  I finally got that hit, a "Texas League" bloop single straight out to center off Chris McGriff of the Daily Democrat team.  That hit meant everything to 16-year-old me.

Many years later, I ran into him in Sacramento.  I was working as a County Public Defender and he turned out to be the PO assigned to one of my clients.  I made sure to remind him about the baseball thing, and we had a good laugh.  Real nice guy, and always a professional.

Dee (Marilee) Damsen (Kindelt) (1965)

Thank you all who knew Ed Kindelt and shared your memories.  He was a great person (husband, brother, father, grandfather) - very funny, loving, kind, hard working, can't say enough.  All three Kindelt brothers (Ed, Dave, Dan) are the greatest.  The whole Kindelt family is wonderful.  These kind comments help make us get thru the difficult times.  I understand that not every ONE on this forum knows the correct way to help grieving families.  And this is their opinion of course.  Not everyone is going to feel the same way that I do right now.  I just hope that when the time comes for people like this, there will be compassion no matter how you personally feel.  Again thank you all, not only on this foruom, but those that have communicated via cards, phone calls, FB, and emails.  Your thoughtfulness means a lot to the Kindelt family.

Many of us in the '60's decade may remember Don Plank's shop on 1st and North, just across from the library. It was funky and of course full of electronic gear. But why I remember it best was due to contacting him in the early '90's, when I had just started teaching at Dingle elementary and could not get TV reception in my science classroom. There was some upcoming space launch that was to be televised (not the Challenger, thankfully) during the school day, and I really wanted students to be able to watch it. I think I called him at home. He came over after school and spent a lot of time getting me set up on a pretty rinky-dink hookup; he said that the construction of the building, and the fact I was on the first floor had something to do with lack of reception. He was very supportive of what I wanted to do, and did not charge the school anything. Warm thoughts of him.....

Wonderful Spring Days!  Hope everyone is enjoying this weather, less rain and more flowers and wonderful green grass.  May we see lovely weather like this more often.  So glad we are not in that drought!  We still have to watch the water use, but so nice to see it come from the sky.  Happy Mother's Day!!!

Joel Childers (1966)

Hey Craig, If you want to keep working, there are lots of openings at the US Department of Justice. Maybe special prosecutor. Actually, I think it's time for you to hang up the spurs. Haven't you noticed that all those phone calls you're getting are only tele-marketers?  You better get out of that office and see the world before Antarctica melts and the only places left to see are Denver and Katmandu. Say, there's a post-retirement project for you; build an ark.

05/12/17 11:16 AM #3548

Robert Cowing (1965)

Joel, call me before you publically offer those prosecutors' vacancies.  Elvis can carry on where Craig left off.  Besides . . . Craig didn't watch the last 10 minutes of the TV documentary on Noah's ark . . . the guy who found the ark repaired the leaks and sailed away with it.  I think he works for the C.I.A. and they are still looking for him.

Denver is nice this time of year.

P.S. - JUST FOR FUN . . . "The ice sheets of central Antarctica have been stable for millions of years when conditions were warmer than now, a new research has found. Researchers from the Universities of Edinburgh and Northumbria studied rocks on slopes of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica, whose peaks protrude through the ice sheet. However, the scientists are concerned that ice at the coastline is vulnerable to rising temperature, though the discovery points towards the long-term stability of Antarctica’s ice sheet." -- The Indian Express, 8 May 2017

"Glacier flow at the southern Antarctic Peninsula has increased since the 1990s, but a new study has found the change to be only a third of what was recently reported. The new research calls into question recent claims of much more dramatic ice loss. The new Leeds-led research calls into question a recent study from the University of Bristol that reported 45 cubic kilometers per year increase in ice loss from the sector. The Leeds research found the increase to be three times smaller." --University of Leeds, 2 May 2017

Uh-oh, commies in the White House. They're going to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids. (That from a great film that came out when we were mere Sophomores at good old Woodland High.)
