Walter J. "Wally" Summ (1967)

Chipper Morris and I talked not too long ago.  I was interested in his beans.  He and his wife, Bobbie, farmed several hundred acres of heirloom beans.  I can say that Chipper truly loved what he did for a living.  It was evident in our conversations that he lived the life he wanted and enjoyed. May I suggest to his friends or interested parties that you read his bio on the "Elegant Bean" website.

Great photo of Chip Wally.  Thank you for posting.  Chip's passion in recent years has been dry beans.  Great recipes on the web site as well.

So sorry to hear about Lani and "Chipper".  I remember both of them with fondness.....Also, regarding Vern's post about cycling time on the reunion weekend, that sounds like a great idea.  I see that there's a  cross class reunion planned for 2018, and that would be a great addition, since I don't play golf...

Joel Childers (1966)

Sad coincidence. Wife and I were watching a Cal Bears Football game on tv last night, and I started talking to her about my old friend Chipper Morris. As always, the Cal games bring up memories of Chipper, because he and I would run into each other at Bear games at the stadium in Berkeley when I lived in the bay area back in the late 1970's early 80's. He always talked about farming outside of Clarksburg. I wish I would have been as happy in my career as Chipper. Sad to read here about his passing. Chipper was an inspiration for the rest of us, warm-hearted and caring. I don't believe he had a bad bone in his body. Rest in Peace, Chipper.

Nice, Craig. I thought for a while there, you had lost your marbles. I don't think we'll be playing marbles at the next reunion. Half of us wouldn't be able to get back up off the ground.

Greg.....looking at the plane the caption should read,  glad I made it back.  Is there a story behind this.

11/12/17 08:35 PM #4173

Elvis Kelley (1962)

OK guys and gals. I don't have a picture, but my dad was in the infantry and was in a few battles. I can't name them because he didn't talk about them. But I do know he took shrapnel that was in his leg to his death in 1952.

There is someone else that I'm just as proud of, my mother. She caught the train at main and 2nd and went to Mather air base and worked on the planes our men were flying. That was a time when everyone had to step up and help and they did. We owe a lot to that generation. I know they must have bitched about the hard times, but I never heard it. So I say thank you to all.

Thank you Greg, Elvis, and Robert for remembering all who have given on this Veteran's Day, and those who continue to give to support our Country.  It takes all these giving souls to keep our freedom.  Robert, reading the names just from the Woodland area is very impressive, makes one stop and think, let us never forget.   Bless them all.  Women gave a lot during WW II and all wars, even if they were home, worried for their loved ones and moving into jobs the men had left.  Our hats are off in Thanks.

Robert Cowing....Post 5695...Please, please correct the post about me and my service.....It is posted that I served in Viet Nam, "I did not serve in Viet Nam".. I would NEVER say that about my active service time......The correct post should be Korea and Korean DMZ 65 to 66 US Army..67/68 Ft Hood Texas.  Thanks for correcting this......I have way too much respect for my Viet Nam Brothers and Sisters to let stand a bad post......Tlhank You
