Christina Mendez, 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. An active member of Holy Rosary Church, her many activities included being one of the founding instructors of RCIA and serving on the Diocesan School Board.
She is survived by her children, Steve (WHS 1968), Diana (Mark), Marianne (Chuck), Michelle (Dan), and son-in-law, Ernie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jim (Lettie), Jennifer, Alex, Nicole, Diego, Francisco, Alyssa, Nic, Nathan and Alec. She is also survived by her brother, Manuel Arellano.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Mariano, and her daughter, Sylvia Lucero (WHS 1966).
Christina touched many lives with her kindness and selfless generosity. Her passing was quiet and graceful, just as she lived and will continue to live in our hearts.
The Rosary will be held at Kraft Funeral Home on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. The funeral will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
