Very sad to learn that Holly Hayden has passed. I remember Cindy and Vickie very well. Holly, just as a little girl while in Yolo. My condolences to all the family. Many blessings.

Duane, please extend to Vicki and her family my sincere condolences on the passing of Holly. I remember all of them very vividly from living in Yolo. Vicki and I were in the same classes all throughout school while Holly was the younger sister. We lost contact many years ago but I still have so many fond memories of Vicki and her family.

Holly Lee Hayden (Calibro) December 19, 1952 1947 - November 21, 2018

Holly grew up in Yolo County, Ca., where she met her husband of 49 years, James Calibro (WHS 1966), her burning love with the hottest car in town and he was pure sugar! While James was attending a live in Police Academy in Modesto, Holly was raising two children, working full time and attending Sacramento City College, where she graduated on the Dean’s List with a Nursing Degree. Holly and James moved to Modesto in 1975 and added two more children to their family.

Holly was employed at Modesto City Hospital for thirteen years and then continued her career coordinating in home healthcare at VNA and Interim.

Holly and James loved to travel, visiting friends, attending Vietnam Reunions and taking cruises together and with family. She loved going to Nevada, San Francisco, Oregon, Idaho. Holly and James would often take day trips around California while listening to oldies and Sawyer Brown with a Pepsi and an Almond Hershey Bar. Holly loved all holidays and decorating their home for them. She liked visiting cemeteries, historical places, joking and laughing. But what Holly most enjoyed was spending time with James and their family.

Holly is preceded in death by her parents, Ardith and Homer B. Hayden Jr. She is survived by her husband, James Carlo Calibro their four children Craig Carlo(Victoria) of Modesto, Carey Christine(Leonard) of Modesto, Christopher Charles(Emma) of Fernley, Nv., Cayce Carol(Jeremy) of Modesto. Ten grandchildren. Brother, Homer B. III(Nancy) of Sacramento, sisters, Cindy of Modesto, Vicki (WHS 1966) (Gilbert Duane - WHS1965) of Modesto and Erin(Scott) of Idaho Falls.

Holly’s Memorial Service will be held at her church on Saturday, December 8th at 11am at Davis Park Church of Christ, 901 W. Rumble Road in Modesto.

Robert Cowing (1965)

DAWN MARIE JONES 1921 - November 19, 2018

Lifelong resident of Woodland, Dawn passed away at age 97 in Woodland.

Dawn was educated at the Holy Rosary Academy, Woodland High School, and Mercy College of Nursing, Sacramento. She was Patient Relations Supervisor at Woodland Memorial Hospital for many years. Her mission was to ensure excellent care for patients. Physicians and staff held her in high regard throughout her many decades of employment.

Dawn enjoyed time in the summer at the family cabin in the High Sierras. She cherished family and her many friends in Woodland and beyond. Her parents, George Duane Dinsdale and Carolyn Catherine Luthringer Dinsdale, were Woodland pioneers.

She lost her husband, United States Marine Corps Major Clovis Morgan Jones, to heart disease at a young age, but theirs was a love story irreplaceable in her heart.

Dawn is survived by her daughter, Gayle (WHS 1965) Jones Vidal (James), her brothers, George and Tom Dinsdale (Marion), her grandsons, David Emeric Vidal (Nahid) and Ryan James Vidal (Autumn), and her great-grandson, Mogey Deen Vidal, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She deeply appreciated the excellent medical care she received for many years from Dr. Jeffrey Yee. For years, even in her advancing age, she read three newspapers daily and was knowledgeable about local, state, national and world events. Her warm, generous, independent and loving spirit will be missed.

At Dawn's request there will be no memorial service. She will be remembered this summer at the family cabin.

Gary Wegener (Wegener) (1966)

I received this email today from Mike Blank ('66) and his wife Marla Lipshin. Mike is a good friend from high school and was best man at both my weddings... Life isn't fair, and the curve balls are a random luck of the draw. This is a stark reminder to count our blessings and hug our loved ones. Please keep their daughter Katie Rose, her husband Tim, Mike and Marla in your thoughts and prayers.

Dear Friends and Family

After her lovely wedding New Year’s Day, Kate’s health really took a turn for the worse and she is once again battling Chronic Lyme disease. She and Tim are living with us, as we all try to support her in recovering. It’s a long, hard road for her.

We’re so proud of our beautiful, brave daughter - every single day. It is so hard to ask for help, but there is no one more deserving than Kate and the reality is that we need help.

They said they have been very busy and that the Souvenir Memory Book should be finished between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am getting rather anxious also, so we'll see what happens. Robert Cowing (1965)

Steve Lawrence Shoup was born to Mary Lou and the late Bill Shoup.

He was raised in Woodland, where he attended local schools, graduating WHS Class 1967.

He loved exploring national monuments and hunting with friends and family. He will be missed by all those who hold him dear.

A service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Winters, 512 First Street, Winters.

Gary Wegener (Wegener) (1966)

John Swentowsky's goal has been to start work on our book Dec 1st and get them out by Christmas; I spent 3 hours with him Thursday reviewing/correcting the names on portraits. A 'decade' reunion requires alot of manual manipulation for the class portrait section, to get couples portraits of classmates in both class year sections. I have them for a final review now and will have them back to him Tuesday. It is being actively worked now.

In this age of digital photography and the ease of computer assisted publishing, it boggles the mind that it takes over 90 days to produce something that a typical high school student could accomplish in a week long homework assignment.

I would like to express my appreciation for you Gary and all the others who have put in their time and talents to making this wonderful website the valuable tool it is in helping to keep us all together as a group of classmates of WHS. And also for the many hours of planning and preparation in our recent "All 60's Class Reunion"...and the hours didn't stop with the reunion as you are now putting in your time in helping to get the Souvenir Memory Book ready for Christmas. Robert Cowing (1965)

Christina Mendez, 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. An active member of Holy Rosary Church, her many activities included being one of the founding instructors of RCIA and serving on the Diocesan School Board.

She is survived by her children, Steve (WHS 1968), Diana (Mark), Marianne (Chuck), Michelle (Dan), and son-in-law, Ernie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jim (Lettie), Jennifer, Alex, Nicole, Diego, Francisco, Alyssa, Nic, Nathan and Alec. She is also survived by her brother, Manuel Arellano.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Mariano, and her daughter, Sylvia Lucero (WHS 1966).

Christina touched many lives with her kindness and selfless generosity. Her passing was quiet and graceful, just as she lived and will continue to live in our hearts.

The Rosary will be held at Kraft Funeral Home on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. The funeral will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the CureAlz.org, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Yolo County Hospice. Published in Daily Democrat from Dec. 19 to Dec. 20, 2018

My condolensces to the family of Kenny. I am very sad to learn of his passing. He was very nice to me in High School, and even at the class Reunions 1962. We had some good dances on the last Reunion for 1962, what a great time as I recall. Very sad to learn of this. Rest in peace, and I send my prayers.
