Sorry, I stand corrected about my Brother Tom Barger, '65,  I was reading the family book written by our Mother and Tom's speciality was the 440.  But he did run the 880 as well.

Clara Turner Reid was born on April 22, 1921 in Kirkland, WA to George and Melvina Turner. After the death of her father, when she was four years old, her mother and two brothers moved to California and settled in Marin County.

She graduated from Mount Tamalpais High School where she met her future husband, William J. Reid at a football game, which began a love story lasting 80 years. After graduation, she took business courses and then worked at the San Francisco Chronicle. They married in 1939 in Rio Vista on her 18th birthday with each of their mothers as the witnesses.

In 1940 they welcomed son, William G. Reid. Following along after the war, was daughter, Patricia Reid Donker (WHS 1966) in 1947. The family settled in rural Woodland in 1949, raising chickens, pigs and eventually bees. She took great pleasure in her family and spending time with them. She passed from this existence on Jan. 13, at home in Woodland.

She is survived by her husband, William J Reid Jr. (101) of Woodland; son, William G. Reid (Shirley) of Cave Junction OR; daughter, Patricia Donker (John) of Woodland; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. There will be no services per her request.    Published in Daily Democrat from Jan. 25 to Jan. 27, 2019

Mildred Ruth Sisson was born in Sebeka, MN on Aug. 13, 1919, and went to her Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 19.

She was married to Jean Sisson for almost 70 years when he passed in 2010. She served this community in many ways and was one of the best cooks and bakers around.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Macias (WHS 1960, (Joe, deceased), Ruthie Lee (WHS 1963) (Bill - WHS 1961)), and grandchildren, Dan Pate, Sheri Macias, Mike Macias (Lisa) and step granddaughter, Jeannette Lee.

Mildred was one of 12 children raised on a farm in MN and learned to work hard early in life. She lived a full life just short of 100 years. She was a magnificent woman and loved and cherished by many. A special thanks to her wonderful caretakers Mike and Connie Armus, and the good care from Dr. Jeffrey Yee.She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be very missed.

There will be an interment at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at a later date, and also a memorial service at Church on the Rock at a later date.             Published in Daily Democrat on Jan. 23, 2019

Hi All-

I was the Class of '68 reunion contact responsible for locating our classmates for our reunion last year. Yesterday, I had an invitation for Steve Canavari returned as undeliverable ( 8 months after I sent it!)_Does anyone out there know of his whereabouts? Pretty sure he's in Santa Rosa but would love to update his contact. If so, please send me a private message.

Thanks

In my book, the Super Bowl is the official end of fall/winter sports (not a basketball fan); so I'm chomping at the bit for Major League baseball to get going. (The first Mariner spring training game is Feb 21!) So I was checking out the Mariners roster of new players and noted one kid named Braden Bishop, born Aug 1993 in Woodland, CA. He has no major league experience, so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that he makes the 40 man roster and becomes the next Dustin Pedroia. Anyone on the site related to Braden Bishop?

Paul - If Sheri was Steve's sister you might find some leads.  See her obituary on this web site.

Joel Childers.   It appears you are a Mariners fan. I try to go to the Mariners game when I visit Seattle. Thanks for the report on a young man from Woodland and the Mariners.  Keep us posted.   I expect you know but just in case, did you see Edgar Martinez made the Hall of Fame.  I have been lucky enought over the last several years to participate in the Edgar Martinez Golf Classic to benefit MDA.  I have been privileged on several occasions to take my brother Orval (who is a really good golfer-me not so much) and we have been able to meet Edgar Martinez, a very personable person.  I am happy he made the Hall of Fame.

David Hughes. Yes. Mariner fans have been blessed with three great players who are also exemplary human beings, Edgar Martinez, Ichiro Suzuki, and Ken Griffey Jr.  Now back to the Superbowl. Who is a 49er or Seahawk fan supposed to root for, the divisional rival Los Angeles Rams or the (NOT THEM AGAIN!) Patriots?

At any rate, I hope you all enjoy America's favorite unofficial holiday this Sunday. Game doesn't start until 3 PM so there is plenty of time to go to church, or at least thank the Lord for your nachos and beer.
