The New Year 2019 has started off with some good rain.  We so need the good water.  My garden is in the winter state, but this rain will help my flowers and plants.  Of course, my garden is one of my joys, along with baking and visits from my nieces, nephews and the greats.  Just thought I would post a few pictures to get us moving on the forum for 2019.  That date seems so far from the Woodland High School date of 1964.

That baking looks delicious. I can feel my bloodsugar rising just looking at it.

Aileen and Don:  Thank you.  Guess we started the ball rolling for the forum.  We all need good health.  Good communication is always fun and lifts the spirits.

Joe, we do have a link on the woodland high site, think it is under "about us" tab.  Does anyone our there in forum land know how to increase web visibility on search engines?   I know there are tricks but don't know what they are.

I am intrigued with the idea of getting (restoring?) a 1940's Willie's jeep.  Anyone have any experience with that?

Gary - I only see a few keywords. You could try adding a few more page relevant keywords, i.e. WHS, Class Reunions, Classmates profiles, etc.?  You've done a terrific job with the website!!   jn

Hi Gary

My friends 1945MB (Willys) on left, my 1944GPW (Ford) on right side. This April will be our big spring meet in Plymouth (MVCC). There will be everything from "projects" to restored vehicles there. Let me know if you want more info :-)

Sheri Canevari, daughter of John and Marguerite Canevari, died unexpectedly on Oct. 22, 2018.

Sheri was born in Salt Lake City, UT. The family moved to Woodland, in 1955. She attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Woodland High School in 1962. Sheri moved  to San Francisco after graduation and lived there for 10 years, where she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and became the first woman to head their research department.

After moving back to Woodland, she worked at the Daily Democrat for several years as the Social Editor. In 1989 she went to work for the UCD Bookstore in the advertising department. She retired as the advertising department manager in 2011.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Douglas Canevari (WHS 1960).

She is survived by her sister, Therisa (WHS 1966) Friedrich (Bill); brothers, John (WHS 1969) Debbie  (WHS 1969), Brett (Tonya), all of Woodland, and Tony (Kay) of Santa Rosa; seven nieces; three nephews; four great nieces, and four great nephews. Respecting Sheri's wishes there were no services.

Have been researching Woodland baseball history for the last 20 years.  Restored this photo but had to create bottom part of image.  Young man at bottom of page was missing part of one eye and entire nose. Looking for help identifying everyone in photo. Would like i.d. with a second verification.  Please post response for others to see for comments.  I can be emailed directly at:  woodlandbaseball@sbcglobal.net.  Larry Martinez

Just wanted to post a comment about a great asset that Woodland has.  That is your Costco!  My husband and I had to go to the Recorders office in Woodland in December and we decided to go to Costco.  We live in the foothills so our closest Costco is in Rocklin...this Costco serves Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn and several foothill cities east of Auburn.  It is always crowded!  How pleasantly surprised we were to go to the Costco in Woodland and find parking very close to the door, very few people shopping, wide aisles with beautiful flooring and a whole new array of products that we don’t usually have access to.  For us it is only about 15 minutes farther than Rocklin so we may shop there more often!

Sheri  Canevari, a very smart young lady.  Many family years shared around Beamer Street and North McKinely.  May she rest in peace with our Lord and with her parents.  In memory and blessings.  .

Regarding Costco. We loved the one in Woodland. Here in Georgia, the closest one is about 30 miles away, and it is not a full service one. It mostly serves businesses and the meat department does not have family sized packages, rather restaurant portions, very large. Whole sides of beef, etc. Still go for canned and paper products.

I have been shopping at COSTCO since it was called "Price Club", named after one of the founders, Sol Price down in San Diego.  They have a private brand called Kirkland and my kids used to call me "Mr Kirkland" due to my frequent trips to that store.  Great if you have the room to store the large sizes or have two homes or can share with family.  It is also a great place to buy your gas when travelling or even just locally.

Some good reading on your local Costco's, but I must differ with y'all......The Costco in Modeso is crowded, noisy, checkers mostly overworked and not very helpfull or friendly, parking the s**ts, folks racing in lot, looking  for a place to park, close to doors, gas line 5 to 6 cars deep waiting for a pump....Clothes displayed on large tables thrown in piles....People pushing samples stuck at end of aisles in the flow of folks moving thru....With just Vick, myself and son and Cindy, I don't find I need four 64 oz bottle's of ketchup or 400 kitchen  forks/spoons/knives or 36 rolls of T-paper. all at once unless I'm going camping or going to have a BBQ with the family.......I could go on longer, but for me the local Costco is a waste of time and money....Most of the time I've gone in I spend over $100.00 for a few things that could have been gotten at the SaveMart or Raleys or Smart & Final or for that fact the local Winco............ cheaper...........But I wish you that like your Costco the best.......

Amazon vs. Costco, reminds me of PAC-MAN........He's coming to get you !

But if you can afford a CostCo membership, you will never starve.  Love their food sample stations; you can normally top off a free meal with a free taster of coffee.  :)
