Good day!

And it is a good day, relatively speaking, here in Donegal.  We are under strict lock down since the middle of March.  We are allowed to walk or bike within 2 kilometers (1.25 miles) from our homes, drive to obtain what the government deems is essential which is basically food and medicine, keep 2 meters distance, and we cannot associate with anyone outside our home.  All meetings and gatherings are illegal.  Our police force (Gardai) are on the highways and in towns stopping traffic to ask where you live and where you are going.  I can rarely go anywhere without being stopped.  I had previously thought we were allowed to shop where we want but I was stopped by the Gardai on my way to a bigger grocery store and he turned me around and said there was a store closer to my house.

Anyway, I got out for a walk this morning on the most beautiful day yet this year.  May and September are the best months here.  Hope everyone is healthy and happy.

As we face these unknown times, with shut-in hours, and stay at home projects; it is a time to refect on fun filled days, of times enjoyed by family  - of which we can still engage.   My enjoyment is my garden with many humming birds.  But, also I have been finding some wonderful black and white pictures.  Here is one of Anne Douglass and myself on a fishing trip, eating animal crackers.

Looks like a U-2 with a T-38 escort, in a salute to healthcare and other essential workers.

They will fly over Woodland Memorial between 12:00 and 1:00 o'clock tomorrow.

Probably closer to 12:50 PM.

Odd picture, as Beale T-38's are usually painted Black and training planes like I flew were White.

Put out your American Flag and cheer loudly when they fly by.

Beale web site says only T-38's will participate, darn I'd love to see some U-2's.

Gary Wegener (Wegener) (1966)

The U-2s might be at 90,000 ft (i.e., no-see'ems).   But it makes sense that the it would only by the T-38s.  I got swayed the yellow graphic with a U2 outline.  Beale's website says they have both planes.

Beale Airforce Base, good to hear about the fly over for May 9th, tomorrow.  Living in Roseville, I will be sure to see these magnificent men in blue with their skills in flying.  I will put my flag out.  Thank you Gary for the update on a much needed "spirit of our country" .  Great for the red, white and blue.  heart

Thank you for your message on Mothers Day,  Theresa.   She is the reason that I wrote letters to her every week from Vietnam to let her know that I was still alive and fine.   She keep up my Morale while I was over there.   I had no girl friends at the time because I was not sure I would ever make it home.   Jim Barger

We live within two blocks of Yuba City Sutter Urgent Care. We watched the T-38s from our back yard as they  passed over our home. They wer black and magestic in the sky at a very low altitude. They took off at 12:00 noon from BAFB, flew to Nevada/Grass Valley, looped back over Rideout Hospital in Marysville and flew over our home at 12:10. They covered a lot of territory in that 10 minutes. I had my cell phone at the ready trying to get a pick, but they were silent until the last few seconds and passed over so quickly, it was impossible to get them in my frame because they were so close.

When I was in high school in the late 60s, I went deer hunting with friends and family on family property West of Arbuckle and had a similar experience. We were sitting on the high ridge looking down below the bluff watching for deer. We were looking down the West side with Highway 16 meandering through the Capay valley below in the distance. We were amazed at what we witnessed next. There were two fighter jets manuvering through the Capay Valley and we were looking down upon them. They were silent as they passed but after they passed, there was a thunderous roar.

I recently became aware of this and wanted to pass it on to people of ALL faiths.

"Pope Francis renews his invitation for people of all faiths to unite in prayer, fasting, and works of charity on Thursday May 14th for an end to the Covid-19 pandemic."

Type into your browser:   VATICANNEWS.VA   for a complete video and transcript of Pope Francis's message.

I have been taught, that whenever I fast, I skip two consecutive meals, and then donate the money that I would have spent for food, to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a "fast offering". The Church then uses that money for the poor and needy around the world. May we all fast and pray for an end to this trial we are all going through.

GO WOLVES!

Thank You Vern, That is a very appropriate and timely message.  With 3 million filing for unemployment, there is a great need.

My wife (Nancy) and I have seen the need for food and addressed it by providing cloth masks to people who in return make donations to the local food pantry.  Nancy makes the masks, and I distribute them.  We have provided the food pantry in our county with $3,000.00 this way.

As the folks at the pantry say, that's equivalent to 5,400 pounds of nutritious food, and that is enough to serve 4,350 meals.

May the Pandemic end!

Here is an email I sent out recently. I don't want to offend anyone but if you're interested in reading about my journey with ALS and God, you can use the link below or the website button in my profile. Thanks to Gary for helping me.

Hello,

I hope you're doing okay during these challenging times. What is going on
now with the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is so unbelievable. We have a
new normal and an uncertain future. Will we go back to the way things were?
Or are we going to consider this a wake-up call and change our ways?

I hope people are taking this opportunity to look at their lives and to
think about what is really important. And, I hope everyone is asking, "Am I
 right with God?"

So, with that in mind, I have decided to share my essays again. I wrote
God, ALS, and Prayer in 2002. I've added an update at the end of it.  I
think my experiences show that there is a higher power, which I call God,
who can be involved in our daily lives. And, that we can have a personal
relationship with Him. He continues to give me hope and helps me in so many
amazing ways. This is the time for everyone in the world to know that God
is real and ask for His help. I think many of us need a difficult situation
in our lives to turn to God. For me it was ALS. What about you?

One of my angels, Gary, created a "website link" in my profile to a collection of my
writings and named it "Musings, by Lois". Feel free to check my profile, or share this email and
 the link below with others.

 https://www.classcreator.com/000/1/8/2/22281/userfiles/file/musings20200510(1).pdf

 Love, joy and peace,

 Lois
