The Melines had one at the corner of CR 101 and Kentucky Ave. There was also one on CR 102 just south of Gibson Rd.  Don't recall the names of either one of them.

PMP was the name of the one at Kentucky and 101.

In the Senior Class Movie of 1963, Gary Dodson filmed several shots of the fence at 'Racetrack Motors" and filmed several Seniors,  Chuck for one at the Racetrack Motors showing the Used Parts for Sale.

Thanks Don, Joseph and Jim for "remembering"!. It's funny, how we just did not take photos of the things we considered common place. I wish I could back in time with my iPhone or digital camera. then we would have pix of some of these places :-)

The next "do you remember" is more for the folks on the north side of Woodland. Palm Avenue, in the place called Beamer Park? had a "Traffic Circle" before they bacame popular as traffic calming. At the top of the small hil in the middle, was a cement fountain. I remember it was hit by a 1954 Chev that went straight instead of going around the circle. Anyone else remember the fountain??

JoAnn Kergel (Wirth) (1965)

Greg, My cousin, Lon Springer, drove me over that "traffic circle" after a family reunion in 1961 or '62.  I think the city attempted to plant several trees on the top of it.

Greg, I recall the fountain but not how it was destroyed. Used to spend time drinking beer on Lynda Paulson's parents front porch when in high schjool. They lived a couple of houses down from the circle. Kenny, Claude, Tony, Freddie  and others. They kept us out of trouble . Good people, the Paulsons.  Don't recall many 54 Chevys other than Harv Holleys.

Hey Class of 62. What happened to our school spirit? Our class is lagging in sign-ups.  Let's pick it up. Looks like the party class doesn't want to party anymore. Check this website for instructions on how to sign up.  The big day for the all 60s reunion is Sept. 9 at the fairgrounds from 4-8 PM. If you have trouble signing up, call me and I'll help you.  916-425-4523.

Ah yes, the traffic circle in the middle of the elite old housing "development" originally known as Beamer Park, an area that was also home to the park called Beamer Park where many of us played as kids. At the end of 3rd Street at Beamer Street were two huge gateway columns on either side of the street marking the entrance to Beamer Park. (Were the columns connected across the top? I wish I had a picture.) The street running through it was given the name Palm Avenue, I suppose to distinguish the area from where us riff raff lived.

What I remember is Grampa driving us kids in his pickup speeding around the roundabout. I was just a toddler and I would beg him for more. "Gwampa, I wanna go wound and wound."  And he would oblige us. More fun than a merry-go-round,

I remember delivering the "Sacramento Union" in the Beamer Park area. Beautiful homes, especially the Burns home, imediatley to the west of the circle. Paper route covered the whole northeast quarter of Woodland. It was hell getting up at 4:00AM to deliver papers.

Beamer Park was and is very lovely.  I do remember the circle, which had a fence around the top area after the accident with the car.  Then the tree was planted.  I use to babysit for the children of the Bone Surgeon of Woodland Clinic.  He and his wife had a big home around the corner, two story.  Was his name Kenny? (According to the old Woodland Telephone Book of 1974, the doctors name was William M. Keane)  The brick gates have  been restored, looks lovely.  Yes, Joel, we use to ride our bikes to the park for summer crafts.

Our first house in Woodland was a block away from the circle. Lived on Keystone. I think Susan Bender lived around the corner across from the park.

Excellent picture, Mike Miller old friend. Beamer's Woodland Park over the archway. How could I forget after walking past there to Beamer school every school day from 2nd through 6th grade. The old gray matter just ain't what it used to be...aint' what it used to be..

"Beamer Park" is a lovely neighborhood.  Regarding the roundabout, the city (or some entity) tried planting a series of pine trees over a couple of years.  Each one "mysteriously and suspiciously" disappeared just before Christmas 🎄!!  Hmm. What a coincidence!!   There is now a lovely large broadleaf that I think is a White Mulberry but I'll have to go see it up close to be sure. The City is planting lots of them around town in public spaces.  There is a beautiful one just behind the Opera House as well.

Record needle? Craig, you're so last century. You still use a rotary phone or one with the crank on the side?

It looked like there was a very well attended pickle ball tournament going on at Beamer Park yesterday.  Bee:  I remember going to the park in the summer for crafts, too, and for baton twirling.

In the race of Barbie and Oppenheimer as to who scores better at Box Office Preview, it is official that Barbie has won the title grossing over $22.3 million and that's not all – it has also turned out to have the best reviews of this year to date. - Business Insider

No surprise there. Fantasy beats reality every time, especially at the movies.

The answer is obvious, Craig. According to the multiverse theory that grew out of the perplexities of quantum physics, we are living in some teen girl's Barbie universe.

Now back to Beamer Park and childhood in Woodland. Thanks for the great photos, Anne Douglas.

Nice pictures of Beamer Park, thank you Anne.  Say Joel I still have two Princess Phones from Pacific Bell, on the old land line.  I will not give them up.  I have a cell, which I use also.  Something about the old fashion phones I like the best.  So when all the cell towers go down, I will have some connection, maybe.  Technology is somewhat questionable.
