That's the case. I was first on the scene at 4:30 PM. It happened on CR 102 just north of CR 17 in front of a labor camp. I interviewed the laborers/witnesses with my limited Spanish. Yellow VW Bug with license plate number 007. Ron Heilaman worked the case and did a great job.

Just wanted to say hello and tell everyone that many are looking forward to this Saturday's 10 year WHS Reuinion at 4 pm at the Fairgrounds in Woodland. For some this could be the last time we are able to get together like this. It is an opportunity to talk about the early days as we were growing up in Woodland. I will be looking forward to sharing my journey to get here as well as to hear your journey too. Some of us haven't seen each other since 3rd and 4th grade. We will need to look at our name tag pictures to identify ourselves. See you all on Saturday.

One of our 1964 accomplished classmates who passed so young, Judy Robinson Campos McKeehan, Attorney of Law who passed at age 53.  I just posted her obituary which outlines all her skills and talents.  One outstanding woman.  I remember her always having a smile on her face.  Wonderful achievments, a pioneer in her profession.

Greetings WHS Classmates -

Tomorrow, Mark Wegener (WHS Class of 1969) along with Ranee Niedermeyer and Kyle will be giving a presentation about a recent Motorcycle Trek from Heidelberg, Germany to Cape Town, South Africa.

The presentation will be held at Blue Note Brewery in downtown Woodland. The event is free and open to the public with no reservations required. Just show up at 2 PM on Friday, purchase a soft drink or beer and join the group.

Their adventure features some epic stories about border crossings, the challenges of riding "2-up" along the west coast of Africa, having breakdowns and avoiding banditos. Kyle, Ranee and Mark have many interesting stories to tell and you will be amazed by the variey of situations that they found themselves in.

Blue Note Brewery is located on Dead Cat Alley right behind the Woodland Central Post Office on Court Street. The addresss is: 750 Dead Cat Alley, Woodland, CA 95695.

Judy Robinson Campos McKeeham post was just a detail of  Judy's accomplishments..  To clairify this obituary post, it was written in 2000, around her passing.  Just historical details for classmates to reference Judy's life.  The memory page did not provide a picture or details.  Thank you, just a post to reference only.

I had a great weekend! First, I attended the motorcycle slide show by Mark Wegener and spouse. For those who missed it, it was very professionally done and quite informative. Three persons  drove from Heidelberg, Germany to Capetown, South Africa with all the trials and tribulations that occurred daily for four months. What a trip! Then the Class of 1964 had a mini reunion at the same location. Frances Handley, Sandra Humphrey, Mahalia O'brien, Walter Olsen, Diana Mattos and Rick Gonzales with spouses attended. Some of us hadn't seen each other since WHS days. Then the 60s Reunion the next day. I did a Meet & Greet with many former clasmates including Joe Briones, Sherry Brown, Elys Bys, Don Gray, Carol Dutton, Nancy Espigares, Joan Demartini, John Govanetti, Mike Swett, Rosie & Fred Ramirez and many others. A good time was had by all. Kudos to Gary Wegener, Carl Franke plus spouses as well as others who helped put this together. Food was great! Definitely a weekend to remember. Thank you all.

A while back we werre talking about the old Woodland Municipal Swimming Pool. Nita Keehn found this snapshot (probably sometime around our senor year, 1961/62) and I am posting it for her. The pool is now long gone, one more of our memories that is gone :-(

& at the Reunion last week, a few of us that went to Holy Rosary, could remember what it looked like before it burned (when we were in third grade), I thought I would post this pic from an old post card I have that was mailed in 1946.

Greg, Is Nita sure this is the old pool on Elm St. I don't think so. I spent many a day at that pool in the 50s and early 60s.  I was on the city swim team with Bill Freeman, Gary Hintz and Jerry Mosher in the late 50s.There was never a cyclone fence around the pool and the diving boards don't look like the ones at the old pool. An 8 foot brick wall bordered the pool on the north and east sides. I don't recall what was on the south side. There were never pipes in the pool running from end to end. This would have been the west end of the pool and there was never trees close to the pool in the vacant lot on the south side of the pool. All the trees were closer to College street where the new YMCA building was constructed. Also, there were 3 diving boards. Two one meter boards on either side of a 3 meter high board.  And there appears to be a building outside the fence. There were never any buildings on that lot.

Hi Don That sound right, I don't have that many memories of the swimming pool, but I remember the cement brick fence. Let's wait till Nita sees the image and see what she remembers. The pic she showed me was a dinky little snap shot that I copied and enlarged. The only other pools I remembered from the time was the Crowder Pool by Madison (& this does not look like it) and a pool I never saw at the Karlton Klub? Maybe someone else can place it??

Thanks for pointing out the error :-)

That is very definitely not the old Woodland municipal swimming pool or the Carleton Club pool.  It doesn't look like any pool I remember in Woodland.

Larry Polete (Polete) (1964)

It looks to me like the old Helvetia Park Picnic Grounds swimming pool off the Old Sacramento River Road between Woodland and East Sacramento.  Went there several times as a kid. It's not a Woodland pool or the Crowder pool.

Ralph Henson (1966)

I lived in a house on University Ave in Davis with Greg Leiser in 69-70 and he introduced me to some photography a bit more advanced than point and shoot. He loaned me his Ricoh 35 mm camera and I took the following photos in 1969-70.

The Gable House when one could have purchased it for ??? I heard $25 000. The BnW is 1969 and color slide 1970. Additionally there was a great old structure just east of Dingle School on the corner of Oak and College. Mysterious Mediterranean style stucco (I think). Malcolm Nicholson and I and others used to "play" with the goldfish in the pond behind in the 1950s but always feared the groundskeepers would catch us. It was in significant disrepair by the time I took the photo and was torn down ages ago.

What is the story behind this structure?
