Focusing back on the original Woodland High School on College Street, these pictures from 1965 are sad to see.  The original building will remain in my memory as the Woodland High School.  (This was posted on the other Face Book Woodland Post, which was so historical to share.)

Has there many interest shown in a 60's reunion for the Class of 64?  I appreciate it's a lot of work organizing but given our age could be one of our last (refuse to say last)!

Yes,Sandy , it would be nice to even have just a casual get-together...Maybe in early September as we have always done....Just a chance to see everyone and chat. It's hard I know with so many of us living out of town, but maybe someone can figure out a way to do it. I heard that the class of '62 did something similar and it was very sucessful!

1964 Reunion is a Must to Gather.  We should start something now.  We have had some good locations in the past, may revisit that, Hotel Woodland, Flier's Club, new locations in Woodland I see also.  Great ideas to start.  It should be a comforable location for seating.

Yes to a reunion this year. Some one local get it started. I'm sure someone does have a list of names and addresses either physical or e-mail. I can/will do whatever I can from Santa Rosa.  Yep, we be getting older every year. Let's do this before we can't. There must be some one who likes/loves to organize these things. Orvie, you do a great job with a golf day, how about a golf day and party night. There are a few of us that get together every year or so and we love each other but it would be great to see those who we haven't seen for years. Let's do this. Some one step up make it happen Please

Burke, that is a great story about you and Andrea, thanks for sharing the memories. It just goes to show that there are many fun memories, still to be told and remembered :-)

To the class of 1964, I will say, that for our 60th reunioun, we rented the Legion Hall across from the elks club, and instead of trying to decide how to do food, Don came up with the idea of having a Mexican Food Truck park behind the building, we could order anything we wanted, or not. I'm sure it made organizing much easier and less complicated. Entertainment was Bill Tongren putting together a Power Point that contained old pix from Ilex's and Orange Peals, looping on a big screen TV. To the class of 1964, if you don't do it now, you never willsmiley

My profile picture was taken about 10 months before Andrea passed away. Besides Andrea, our twin daughters, Shaston (next to me) and Sofia, are in the picture. Shaston is the oldest by less than 1 minute and has 4 kids (1 stepson). Sofia has 5 kids.

Greg:  Thank you.  Your 1962 Class Reunion was so fun at the Legion Hall.  It was very easy to talk with everyone and the Mexican Food Truck was outstanding.  Don had a great idea for the easy food.  Just wondering if the space is big enough for our 1964 class.

Smokey Rico just called me and he is reaching out to people who can give their time for organizing that Woodland High School 1964 Class Reunion.  If you can call him he would appreciate all the help to get the ball rolling down the hill.  (530) 219-0122.  Thank you Smokey for heading up a group.

Greg Kareofelas:  Back to the good times at your 1962 Class Reunion.  Was the name of the red food truck from Woodland, Mariscos El Viejon, (530) 665-0926.  I would ask Don, but he is in Heaven.  I went back on our Forum exchange, and he did not mention the name of the food truck, just his idea, so great.  Simple and casual seems the style.  Thank you Greg, Smokey wanted the name of the truck you used.

To the Class of '64, here is the food truck Don arranged for the combined '61-'62 reunion.  They did not require a guarantee at the time.

Another Memory question. does anyone else remember, just a little to the west of the corner of Hwy 16 & Poleline Rd the building where they cleaned and processed the fresh asparagus that was grown in the sink of Cache Creek? I used to stop by and buy a huge grocery bag that I would share with mom and dad when I got to their ranch by Knights Landing. Talk about "Fresh" and delicious! And it was March when it was ready to be harvested.

Greg,  that was the King Ranch. And yes your right that was the best. Especially when you bought it home and cooked it that night !  I  tried going some, but our Bassett Hounds would always beat me to it. They new exactly when to pick it.  So we had to settle for second best, and that was King Ranch.

Walter J. "Wally" Summ (1967)

Greg and Elvis,

That was Frank King.  He was also an accomplished tenor banjo player.  He was a member of the Sacramento Banjo Band. That group played every year at the Yolo County Fair on the west side of the grounds near the display of antique automobiles. Another member that I remember in that band was elementary school teacher Jack Martin......both fine musicians!!

I found this online.....I don't see Frank or Jack in these clips...but, they were members of this band.  Go to 8:00 minutes in on the video to hear a little banjo music.  I was surprised to see them on "I've Got A Secret" !!

Fresh asparagus for Easter!  The best.  Just steamed some last night for dinner, Mother taught me how to cook it to be just right. (Cut off the rooting part, split if the stock is too large, steam with lemon juice.)  Greg, Cash Creek Aspargaus the best for freshness I am sure.. Hope I spelled asparagus correctly.

Speaking of the Sacramento Banjo Band; around 2010 (a later incarnation of) the Sacramento Banjo Band latched on to my baratone (and baratone sousaphone) playing brother David (Class of 1962) where he met his then future and now current wife, Maryanne who plays banjo. I had the pleasure of seeing them all perform at a concert in Old Town Sacramento around that time. Some of the other Woodland banjoists and musicians would get together and play at local Yolo County events. To see a great video of Woodlands historical homes as well as some people you all might remember, go to You Tube and type in Woodland California Stroll Through History 2015. David (and his wife with long wihite/blonde hair) is at about 3:16, but the whole video is well worth viewing.
