Vern, I loved the picture of you and Everett, I had completely forgotten about that.  Louis, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your adventure. Very, very nice article

Robert, thank you for posting Marvin Camarena's obituary. He was truly one of the "greatest."

Joan, thank you, and I am looking forward to our 55th WHS reunion this year.

Craig, my lips are sealed concerning the secret...I do remember you as Everetts next door neighbor...Everett was in the navy...and yes he was a very cool guy.  I was a timid country boy and he helped bring me out of my shell.

Louis, great article and and very well written. It must be interesting to visit a country that still drives the cars we used to love and cruse main street in.

A few more photos from Cuba, but not cars or buildings. The children of the island are wonderful and love to have their photo taken. The Cubans don't have much but they always wear the best they have. There are no scruffy clothes to be seen. Smiles are easy to find.  You can hear the school kids in purple and blue singing Itsy bitsy spider in Spanish.

>Louis - Enjoyed the description of your trip to Cuba, it was a pleasure to read.

Louis--I read and enjoyed your description of your trip to Cuba.  I have a friend, Jonathan Showe who wrote a book in 2010 titled Cuba Rising-An American Insider's Perspective.  At the time the book was written, Jon had traveled to Cuba over 70 times in the past 12 years.  I think that you would enjoy his perspective on Cuba as well as his personal experiences with life in Cuba.  His visits were in Havana where he was able to experience Cuban life outside of the "tourist" areas.  I highly recommend this book to you---if you have any problem finding it, please let me know.

Thank you for your imput to the forum about your trip!

Vivian

To all the highly esteemed members of the Class of '65 (& any other class for that matter),

If you are in an area where the Smoke Police are not so strict, I'd like to get rid of about 50 cord of limbed out walnut firewood, it is free to a good home, first come, first served, if needed I even have chainsaws if you know how to use one.  Email jd@jhdavisassoc.com or 530-908-4251 for details.  JD

Craig, his art can be found in galleries in the US as well as other countries. He's often referred to as the Picasso of the Caribbean and the similarity is evident.

As I read more on what's coming to Cuba I think the quaint isolated county we went to will not survive the coming change. Netflix and Air BnB are already there and when the cruise ships and hotel companies get in the flood of money will alter the soul of the country. Our guide told me they were looking to gain the positive elements of capitalism to improve things. I wished him luck with that.

Ah, but here's a few photos of Fusterlandia. Fusters ceramics cover his home as well as the homes of his neighbors. And thanks for all the "Thank you's" from the forum.

Thank you Robert for sharing your time, talent and kindness in posting these obituaries. There are those of us who would not have otherwise known. I will be passing on this information to those who would like to know. Thanks again.

Eeuw! Way over the line, Craig. We've all been enjoying a higher level of discourse than the run-of-the-mill online trash, but now you've taken us down there.

Julie Eis (Millstein) (1962)

Leroy Bussard, this sounds like a personal insult to me:  "The mensa moron is back again rambling on with his incoherent dribble.  Why can't he just go away? "

The "higher level of discourse" seems, to me, to revolve around people's religious beliefs.   Many of you probably share the same beliefs and that's fine.   Some of us don't.  Some of us actually enjoy the "mensa moron" and trying to figure out what he's trying to say!  I wish I had known him in high school.

I'm usually a watcher and enjoyer of other people's comments.  But all of sudden this forum has taken an ugly turn and that's not enjoyable.  I love philosophy and enjoy the wondering (not wandering) mind.  Craig's comments always make me think.  Somtimes I think OMG, sometimes HUMMMM, sometimes SHUTUP, sometimes EXACTTLY!  But always he makes me think and wonder and I enjoy that.  I enjoy other points of view, that's called diversity and there is too little true diversity in social comentary today.  If you don't agree with me you're a moron or a racist or a bigot.  Please let's allow people to have other points of view without them being attacked.  And 'mesa moron' is an attack.

OK. The polls are closed and all the votes have been tallied. It's unanimous. Craig Mayfield is ordered to go stand in the corner of the universe then retire to eternity without his supper. As for you Mr. Brussard, I see you are class of '62. How about telling us all how wonderful it was going to school with my older brother, David, class of '62? I'm class of '66 and I have really enjoyed stories of Woodland from the older classmen who remember things like the ice house, the original bowling alley, cokes in bottles, the Spudnut and the Sanitary Dairy. Peace, Love, Rock & Roll.

Win, lose, or draw, Craig, I've certainly got to hand it to you. You are one of the coolest persons I know under fire. I have never seen you retaliate with name calling or harsh words. When you have people like Julie, Lynn, and Kathy, and I'm sure there are others, including me, watching your back, it helps. I've also found in life, that it takes a humble person to admit to mistakes, as you have admited to, "being overbearing". Of course, none of us are without mistakes. It's how we handle them that's important. Correct them, ask for forgivness, repay if possible, do them no more, move on and do better.

I would like all of you to know how much I enjoy reading comments from our classmates, especially when they are uplifting and positive. I would also like to remind us that before we post any comments, we should reread the rules and information at the top of this page on the "Message Forum".  I am looking forward to hearing from everyone, especially those who may not have written yet.  We would love to hear from you.

Hang in there Craig. I'm wit ya'. Or at the very least half wit ya'. Looking at some old home movies the other day, I ran across a little something circa 64 or 65. Myself, Gary Wegener, and Joel Childers in our living room just goofin' around. Why this was recorded? Who knows.

Spudnut  was the best. Roquefort burger at Foster Freeze the best. Cruzin'  the A&W the best. Any parade down main street the best. Sitting in the front row with good friends on a Saturday afternoon at the State Theatre the best. When Dad would bring home a big bucket of chicken from that new restaurant that just came to town the best. Playing golf at the Fliers Club the best. Friday night after the game dance the best.

More to come...

A question for the group, regarding "what was where" in town.  Does anyone remember  a hambuger spot that also had KFC drive up window?  I remember it on west Main Street, near California Street, southwest corner, and Vaugn's house was very nearby?  Any body help me out?  Thanks

I remember Rich's Ice Cream and they served burgers, but I think that was on the northeast corner of California St. and W. Main. It was next to the used car lot where we could look at $50 cars and dream about buying one some day!

Hi Lynn

I agree that Craig is usually interesting.  Not always but if he rambles a little just scroll down to another comment by someone else.  Pretty simple.

When I think of you, Lynn, I remember a time when I went with my sister, RaGene, to your house and it had been 'TPed'.  Lots of white paper all over your trees.  Thought that was so funny.  I don't beleive it was a bad thing back then......lots of TP going on then.

Also always thought you were so pretty and such a good friend of my sisters.  You and Jim made such a cute couple.  Thought you two were so cool.

That was a long time ago - late 50's.

Anybody else get 'TPed' back then.

The class of 65 is rolling along!  We already have a few responses for the 50th reunion which is being held at the Woodland Hotel on Sept 12, 2015.  So for the rest of the class, start thinking positively about attending and sending in your RSVP.  All invitations have been mailed out with some even mailed 2 and 3 times with the committee updating addresses.  If you did not receive the invitation (or lost it ! !), please contact me (email: gmadee4@att.net or phone: 530 662 2320).  We will see that you get another one.  Hope to see you all in September - Marilee Damsen Kindelt

Tom Stewart, thank you for the lovely countryside pictures of Irland!  What a lovely valley.  So enjoy all the pictures from those people who present their country scenes.  Blessings to the Weiss Family for their loss.  Ernest was a hard working man and very caring.  He would bring oranges to Mother while she was still living at the 6 North McKinely home.  She enjoyed talking with him about old times at Yolo.  Good memories.

Went to memorial for Ernie Weiss.  Packed church and a luncheon after.  I hope it brought a little bit of happiness to the family to see the showing of people for Ernie.  And to sit next to  a past Cacheville alumni (Theresa Eve).  A lot of memories for all of us who attended our little Yolo school.

Yes, Marilee, it was a great turn out for Ernest Weiss, and for his family.  It was like old home week for the Casheville people.  Enjoyed sharing the service with you Marilee, just like school days.  Where does the time go?  Nice to have a few events to connect back with friends.  That is what makes those Woodland High School Class Reunions so great!  Marilee, I am sure your Class of 1965 will have a great time at the Hotel Woodland.
