I will miss Phil Rosasco, as he was the 'brother that I never had'.  We remained in touch all throughout the years, and never missed those important birthday and holiday messages.  We told many of the same stories repeatedly, with growing exaggeration as those precious memories became larger than life. During our conversations, our focus remained on promises of future visits, which often became lost in the fog of busy lives.  Fast noisy cars. cheap gasoline, explosive horsepower, and the girls we admired, always consumed our interests.

I'll miss you dear friend.

Sorry to hear about Phil also. Nice guy. Nice vette. Was it he who was in the drag race with Corando. They both had vettes I think.  Anyone know where Carol Defoe is? Trish Hartmann?

I grew up a few houses away from Phil Rosasco. We spent our elementary school years doing what kids do. Especially remember digging fox holes that became underground forts in an empty lot on the corner of Buena Tierra and College. When we were older and had cars, he was the one I was with in the Fastest I have EVER been in a car. His Corvette on the River road, a straghtaway, speedometer said 140mph. RIP my friend.

Melane,  Corando was racing Joe Heidrick Jr.,Phil was parked at the end of the 1/4 mile with his lights across the runway so they would know when they finished the race. They hit the pile of almond hulls about 200 feet past that point. It was vary foggy and they hit at full speed ,120+. Phil Rosasco was to race the winner. Phil was a great guy. RIP

Phil Rosasco, you left us too soon!

My condolence to all of your family Phil.

I first met you in High School as we went to different grammar schools. In High School, we shared a love of old cars. My 1931 Model A Roadster first sat in your diriveway, but it would be many owners later and a lot less parts before I finally got it.

Many years later, my memories are of you and my dad, spending time in the Knights Landing Shop Bldg sharing a love of Airplanes and discussing the WWII planes my father was familiar with. After Dad passed, you would stop by the ranch, when I was there, and we would talk about all the things we wished we would have asked dad when he was alive.

I can now say the same thing about the things you and I had not discussed about Knights Landing. Rest in Peace my friend, I hope you and Dad are again discussing WWII war birds now

the class of '67...(the summer of love according to life magazine)...our class song was roger miller's: "chug-a-lug".  we had a st. bernard with a keg hanging around her neck painted on the sidewalk in front of the gym.

no outrage just a "wink and a nod" from the faculty and the community. every friday and saturday night there were dozens of drunk drivers cruising main. not just the testosterone laden car freaks but sons and daughters driving their parent's cars.

purity parking lot was littered with beer cans.  i think a classmate of mine, elmer ree, died at the drag/air strip in a pile of almond hulls...not sure but it seems to me more than one almond hull in the fog crash happened in the '60's. drinking and smoking.  beer and cigarettes. common as a'n'w root beer.

nostalgia without truth is self-indulgent.

I was in the class of 67.  I came late in the year of 64  to Woodland HS. Moved away and came back for another few months. (Parental Custody issues). Please forgive my ignorance of this event. I only knew about it from one of the accident victims (Phil Corando) 45 years ago. I wanted to reconnect with he people I knew then. My good friend Jeanie Tillman was Killed in a car accident with Anita Malcolm. I was only only trying to connect the dots. I met a lot of people through Barbara Shinn. Phil was one of them. I don't  remember if it was in the Purity parking lot, Fosters, or at a party. Joe Corando was dating Trish Hartman and so it goes. Some of you on this forum have very familiar names. I may have met you before. It is obvious that I did not make an indelible impression.

Tom..................I got no problem with what Robert is doing as per the Obit's info..............One was a WW2 Vet, so few of them are left, and they were our fathers. uncles,  brothers, cousins, extended family members................The other was a tragic car crash of a drunk driver going the wrong way on the 505 (if I remember the local news right), it was basicly almost a whole family killed in yolo county in one day................Robert has pretty much stuck to the 60 to 69 time frame..........Having not been on this much lately, I'm saving my money for the class of 65 "50th" reunion....................All you Cache Creek alumni.....The Hayden sisters "Cindy and Vicki send their respects from the Dust Bowl of California...........Mo-Town.............

Elmer Ree wasnt killed in the race at the air strip where the cars hit the almond hulls. It was john heidrick. He was riding in his brother joes corvette while joe was racing corrondo.Phil was at the other end to see who won.It was so foggy that night that they could not see the almond hulls about 20 yards from where phill was parked.

Woodland is a small community. I have no issue with the obits being posted. To me it honors their extended families and some of us may want to be aware of our friends and neighbors' loss.

RE:  The Celebration Of Life for Phil Rosasco on May 31.

I am sure that many of you have entertaining and heartwarming stories about Phil and that there might be a few of you who would like to relate those stories to the friends in attendance.  Due to time restraints, time at the microphone may be limited.  The Rosasco family is requesting that those of you who have such stories, put them on paper and e-mail them to Marge's brother, Bob.  Time permitting, some, or even all, of the stories will be read during the slide show.  Bob's e-mail address is: schneider35715@aol.com.

The Rosasco family thanks you for your participation and cooperation.  I personally, am looking forward to seeing many of you for the first time in 30-40 years.  Phil was my close friend for 65 years and he greatly deserves to be honored.  Any questions regarding this message may be directed to me or to Bob Schneider at his e-mail address.  Thanx again.
