OK, gang . . . if you want to remember another street other than the 2 here (Casa Linda Drive and Buena Tierra), you are on your own to list and tabulate.

All of the discussions about the old neighborhood brought back so many good memories,  I decided to take a virtual walk up and down the streets, which is easy to do on line.  It was fun to see our old house, then take the walk to the old high school, now Douglas Middle School.  Many of the houses look just the same as they did in the '60's--talk about a walk down memory lane!  It was a nice way to spend a Friday afternoon in Bangkok--so easy to visit the old home town and no jet lag!

I lived on Fremont Street as did the Stockton family; Linda, Jean, Donny and Bobby.  Ginger Riley lived across the street but she was a couple years older maybe class of 57 or 58.  What a time.  Fremont is only one block long so we would play in the street all the time until a certain neightbor that owned a local bar was due to come home.  Then everyone scrambled until he was safely in his driveway.

Craig Mayfield, you said - 07/20/15 "Althho . . . if Chris and/or Cindy Crawford were on the back porch back then . . . I was probably "onlookin"... LOL

Maybe this is what you saw:

Cindy Crawford, mutual friend, Chris Crawford

Well, Craigy . . . . fairly often, it seems, sort of . .  .  :O)  . . . .  - "blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year, either the third of four full moons in a season or, a second full moon in a month of the common calendar."

"The term has traditionally referred to an 'extra' moon, where a year which normally has 12 moons has 13 instead. The 'blue moon' reference is applied to the 3rd moon in a season with 4 moons,[1] thus correcting the timing of the last month of a season that would have otherwise been expected too early. This happens every two to three years (seven times in the Metonic cycle of 19 years)

DeMartinis - Diane, Joan, Laura and Brett lived on the corner of Casa Linda and Cleveland Street - front door on Cleveland Street.

Tootie's grandparents, Bob and Greta Lawson, lived next door to DeMartinis --

Pat and Mike Davis lived (Mike still does) on the corner of Cleveland Street and Maedell Way - house faces east -- actually the southwest corner of Cleveland and Maedell Way.  Then the Berrettonis - Norma, George and Lynn, lived in the house on the northwest corner of Cleveland and Maedell Way --- two doors north were the Mezgers.  Hermosa Place beginning with 1 Hermosa place, Dr. and Mrs. Wilson, Jeff and Paula, then John and Josephine Bolen, then Roland and Barbara Ele, Judy and Nancy, then Margaret and Jim Shelly, Michael, Jane Ann and Eddie, then Ev and Les Means, Tom and Bill, then Ken and Bethel Morris, Chipper.

Don't forget the Stoevens--Binky, Paula and Nancy.  They were around the corner from the Mezgers.  Norma, what was the name of the street?

Norma Berrettoni (Plocher) (1966)

Liz - Hayes Street.  I don't remember the Stoeven family living on Hays Street.  However, Paula Stoeven bought the house that Rhonda Doering lived in on Hays Street and her daughter, Samantha, and family live in it now.    On Hays Street between Cleveland and McKinley, the Williams Family, Noel, Joyce, Beth and Jay.  Across the street was Mr. and Mrs. Cushing and Bobby.  The Joerger family lived on that block as well.  On Hays between Cleveland and Elm John Davis, the Waldecks, the Dokes and I think Cadenassos lived ---

The Stoevens lived on Toyon Drive. Fond memories spent at their lovely home.

Stoevens actually did live on Hayes which was before they moved to Toyon Dr.  I also remember that Dan Kindelt was either next door or a few houses down from Stoevens (Hayes St).  This is a fun thread about who lived where and all.

Does anyone know anything about Doug and Lindsay Brown?

Yea, Liz - I didn't get to Woodland until '67 so I don't know much history like the rest of this crew.

I have been corrected! The Stoeven's lived on Rosewood Way before moving to Toyon Drive.

Ronald Cleve (1968)

The Stoeven's, Pearson's, Claasan-Fishella clan lived on Toyon within a few doors of each other

Ladies/Gents,

Re: Stoven Family history

For what it's worth, Binky & I were friends & in cub scouts together when they lived down by McKinley & Hays, his mother ran the troop.  Now I have to figure out who else was in the troop, probably R. Stan Brown, Rick Cochran, ?

How about the City Park gang?  I grew up on the corner of Cross and Walnut and spent so much of my youth until High School playing in the park  with various folks.  Summers were always city recreation activities and there were so many - Z ball, softball, trampoline, crafts, archery, tennis, and on and on.  When it wasn't summer, I was using waxed paper on the slide to make it faster and hanging on the monkey bars or jumping out of swings.

I  remember many classmates and schoolmates and childhood chums in this neighborhood as:  me, the Geers (Bobby, Tootie, and Liz) lived across the park on Cross before they moved to Gibson; Dave Ferns was on Cleveland; Susan Ellis on Oak and Cleveland; the Waldecks (Steve, Connie) on Elm; the Mills (Rosanna) lived nextdoor to me on Cross;  DeMarias (Denise) on Cleveland and Clanton; the Hoeckers (MaryHelen) lived on Clanton; Tagliarinis also lived on Clanton (Terry, Don); the Messengers (Margaret) on the corner of Elm and Oak; the Rumseys/Hertzbergs lived next door to us on Walnut (Karen was about 2 years ahead the Class of 65); the Crusons (Joanne - several years older) lived on the corner of Elm and Cross; Pam Bentz lived next door to the Crusons; the Cranstons (Suzanne) lived on the other corner of Elm and Cross, and I'm sure I've missed some!

Others didn't live as close, but I have many memories as they did attend Dingle School and even sometimes were at the park, including Pam Montandon, Jennifer Doke, Binky Stoeven, Yolanda Martinez, Joe Tafoya, David Ward, Bruce Bailey, Woldy Mischenko,, and on and on and on.

Who else remembers growing up in THIS neighborhood?

Aileen Jull (Martinez) (1964)

My sister, Kathie, and I lived on Rosewood Way with our parants.  The Stoevans actually lived around the corner on Homewood.  I hope that settles it.
