I can add the teachers (those at WHS in the '60s) to the In Memory section.  (When you click the "In Memory" tab and the page comes up, the Wolves (classmate list) is shown first, followed at the end by the Teachers.)  In Memory comments are also indicated by the red rose, next to the teacher's name in the "Teacher Profiles" tab.  (we need a section on marriages and grand kids).

Though I didn't have a photo taken for the class of 1965's Fiftieth Reunion as I was too busy talking to people, I did send in money to receive the reunion booklet. A few days ago, my envelope was returned to me stating, "Return to Sender, Vacant, Unable to Forward."

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Does anyone have a new address for Swentowsky Photography? I mailed my check before the deadline. Any info will be much appreciated!

Thank you Robert and Gary for putting all the teachers information together for us.  And a Happy Thanksgiving Greetings to everyone.  Cannot believe we are into Fall and the holidays are upon us once again.  California is suppose to get more rain.  Hope that we do!!!  Have not seen any interesting posts lately.  Does anyone have a good Thanksgiving memory to share?  Our family use to have big family gatherings at 6 North McKinley, but with time many of the members have passed and others have moved.  However, living here in Sun City, Roseville, we have the original turkeys walking around. year.

"Those Honored Dead"

"Why do you fly the flag today?"

My Grandson wants to know.

I fly it for the graveyards

Where the countless crosses grow.

I fly the flag for children

Whose fathers are a name.

A half-remembered memory

of a face within a frame.

I fly it for the families

of sons and daughters lost.

They know the price of liberty

How terrible the cost!

I fly the flag for veterans

who lost their youth in blood.

And saw their comrades slaughtered

in the carnage and the mud.

I fly it for the ones who marched

In cadence off to war

To close their eyes forever

Upon some foreign shore.

I fly the flag for grief poured out

Upon a granite wall.

The laying-on of hands that heals

The scars within us all.

I fly it for the sound of Taps---

That melancholy tune

That lays to rest those honored dead

Who always die too soon.

NOT EVERY VET HAS A PHOTO. CAN YOU HELP AND/OR CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR MEMORY WITH PHOTO(S) AND/OR BACKGROUND INFORMATION?

Have you lost a loved one as a result of their service in Vietnam? If so, they may be eligible for inclusion in the In Memory Program.

While The Wall shows the names of those soldiers who died in the war, veterans who suffered from medical issues caused by their service in Vietnam – exposure to defoliant spray and psychological wounds – absent from The Wall.

VVMF believes that all those who serve should be honored. Therefore, the In Memory program began in an effort to acknowledge the hardships these veterans and their families went through and the strengths they possessed after the war ended.

The In Memory program honors the sacrifices these veterans and their families made. The In Memory Day ceremony has become a place where families who faced similar hardships gather and help each other begin or continue their healing processes. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund's

In Memory program honors those who died as a result of the Vietnam War, but whose deaths do not fit the Department of Defense criteria for inclusion upon the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

All of the items below do fit the criteria for inclusion in VVMF's In Memory program:

  • PTSD related illnesses / events
  • Esposure to Agent Orange and similar chemicals
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Heart Attack
  • Cholangiocarcinoma

To Robert Cowing;

Thanks to you and all of the other volunteers;

I just looked @ the below full list of Vet's and their service. I could not find my own name there.

I did find it on the page with a flag showing my military service, a lock cuz I only want WHS'rs to see my info.

Is the lock the reason I'm not listed? Anyway, I'd be proud to be listed among them, okay?

I served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam & made 3 trips there. During my time 2/2/1967 until "Freed"

1/27/1971; I was a Boilerman down in "the pit" as it was called. Many hardships but also many good things, too.

3 years after I got out I came across a very good & satisfying job I now receive a pension from. It had to do with being an Inspector of Boilers, Pressure vessels (including Nuclear Power Plants) for certification purposes both during and after construction. I just wanted to add that to show you all that the military's not all bad,etc. I also wanted to let you know there are people behind the scenes looking after various safety issues for our good; even if it seems like "Big Brother" sometimes !!!

God Bless you all & America;

William (Bill) Bucher
