Elvis Kelley (1962)

Robert Cowing, I salute you and thank you.  Those were dark times in our history.  The Japanese people handled it far better than I would have. They are to be commended.

Aileen Jull (Martinez) (1964)

I believe Mrs. Takimoto was part of a group of Japanese Americans who were given honorary Woodland High School diplomas.  Not sure what year that was.

Steve Takimoto (1966)

Robert:  Thank you for posting our (Lois' and my) mother's obituary here.

Aileen:  My mother was a "pack rat", she kept everything.  Since she moved to St. John's almost four years, I've been going through her things.  I haven't come across any kind of diploma yet, but I did find a photo of the WHS Class of '43 65th Reunion attendees.  My mother is in that photo.  I had assumed that she was an honorary member of that class, so you may very well be correct about the honorary diploma.  Thank you.  I'll watch for it.

Dear Steve Takimoto, Aileen Jull (Marinez) and Elvis Kelly -

Based on your postes aboout Hisayo Takimoto, I have included her memory in those Woodland High School graduates in the Class of 1943 and also included her with the other honored WHS alumni in the "Classmate Chatter + obits"  who are not part of of our WHS 60's Reunion.

Thank you, Robert

Theresa Eve (1964)

Thank you Mr. Robert for all the work to put those important notices of Woodland High School students who were there years ago, 1943, amazing.  Appreciate the historoy that Mrs. Takimoto has opened to us again.  Our American Japanese people went through a lot during those years, and held their pride and honor through it all.  They played a big part in our farmlands of California.  Very talented people.

Gail Smith (Maxwell) (1964)

Steve Takimoto - you said you found a 1943 WHS reunion photo.  My mother graduated in 1943 and I was wondering if you could check the photo to see if her name is there...Loretta Henne.  It is very likely that our mothers knew each other!  Thank you so much!

Dee (Marilee) Damsen (Kindelt) (1965)

A message for the class of 65:  Just thought I would let everyone know that I just took "Woody" out of hibernation!  He looks pretty good for being 50+ years old.  For those that do not remember "Woody" - he is the mechanical, 7 foot object that was always on our class floats.  He was made for our class by Barbara Heidrick's father.  The only problem with him now is that he did not get the memo about our dress code for the reunion.  Whoever had him last had him dressed in his tux and I just cleaned him up a bit and will do a little stuffin' on him.  So he will be a little over dressed for the rest of us (we are telling everyone to dress casual and comfortable in order to enjoy themselves!).

Dolores Cabias (Buck) (1965)

Hi Robert, I have a list of five more WHS graduates to add to the list. They all graduated sometime between 1928 to late 1930s as best as we can guess, and they are:

Harold Thomson, my husband's uncle, who graduated sometime around 1928s. He worked for Earl Wallace in farming for many, many years.  Harold was married to Barbara Thomson whose painted were displayed throughout Woodland hospital for many years. She is also deceased. We do not know if she went to WHS.

Margaret Thomson Wilkendorf, my husband's aunt, who graduated after 1928. She worked for the doctors' office on the corner of Lincoln and 1st, 2nd, or 3rd street.  One of the doctors there brought my brother and my daughter into the world in the 1960s.

Helen Thomson Buck, my husband's mother, who graduated in the 1930s. She worked at Liethods then  Corner Drug and knew many of our classmates from her job.

Mildred Thomson Lovvorn, my husband's aunt, who also graduated in the 1930s. She was married to Wilson Lovvorn who farmed all over the valley for many years. Mildred was a stay at home mom to her daughters Karen and Darla Lovvorn, both of whom graduated from WHS.

Merle Wilkendorf, my husband's uncle through marriage to Margaret Thomson. We believe he graduated during the same time period as those above. He worked for Coca Cola during the war and at some point went to work for the City of Woodland in facilities and equipment maintence and repair.

They are all deceased. Mildred, the youngest of the Thomsons, passed away late summer last year at the age of 94 or 95.

Helen lived at the Californian as did my dad, George Cabias, for 3 or 4 years, transferred to Woodland Skilled Nursing (the old Wld hospital) where she passed.

Harold, Merle, Margaret lived at the Palm Garden as did my mother Angela Cabias for 3 to 5 years where they all passed.

So that is a little history of past alumni of WHS.

Dee (Marilee) Damsen (Kindelt) (1965)

To the class of 1965:  Thank you so much for making our 50th reunion such a success.  So many that we haven't seen at other reunions.  As you can see by Irene's message, the ladies were getting to know Woody again.  He definitely was the star of the night.  All we hope for when we started working on the reunion is for people to attend and have a good time.  And I truly think that was accomplished last night!!  Again, thank you all who attended.

Dear Marilee and Committee:  You did a great job, just like our 1964 Woodland High School Class Reunion.  The gathering of people to share friendships and days gone by is such a treaure.  All your hard work made an evening to remember for all.  You kept up with Eldon and Smokies team of hard workers.  Of course, Woodie came in to help also.  The pictures show it was all very lovely!!!

Duane Jackson (1965)

Dear Dee and reunion  committee members.....Thanks for a good reunion, I got there late, but still able to eat, (truck broke down in route) only problem was Vicki's pants got ruined do to with the chlorine in the water by the fountain in the back...........I'm thinking the reunion book should be a keeper for seeing folks who are still around.  Now you can take a break and let down the hair and kick off the shoes and enjoy that cold beer!!   Again thanks for all the hard work "group'o folks".  Duane and Vicki Jackson

Beverley Dean (1965)

Thanks Dee, Carol and everyone on the committee for all your hard work.  So glad I came!  Also, it was great to connect with a few friends the days before and after the party -- just wished there had been more time to catch up with more of you.

Kathy Northup (Schick) (1965)

Dear Committe (especially Dee), you guys really did a great job.  I have attended most of the earlier reunions, but this one was pure pleasure,  The venue was great, the ambience was perfect, the food, great live band and Woody, with the jerking motions and light up eyes, were an absolute blast!  THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. - Kathy

Dee (Marilee) Damsen (Kindelt) (1965)

Now that the class reunion is over, it has been suggested if you took pictures that night to share on this site or post to my FB (Dee Marilee Damsen Kindelt).   Or send as attachments to my email (gmadee4@att.net) and I can share.   I know a lot of people took pictures with Woody.  As you can see from Irene's post, there probably are a lot of pictures out there that could be shared with people who attended or with the ones on this site who were not able to attend and would be happy to see all of our smiling faces!

I just received my photo proofs from the photographer.  Hope everyone else has received theirs or will soon. There are a lot of options for  retouching and finishes so read thru the  brochure for helpful hints  to make us all look great after 50 years!  I personally will take all the help I can get....  The  deadline to order is Oct 9, 2015 so you don't have much time once you receive the proofs.

Several people have indicated that they have not received their reunion proofs as I have been posting about.  If you have not received the  proofs from the photographer from the reunion PLEASE let me know ASAP.  I will be contacting the photographer tomorrow about the ones that I know of.  If you want me to be the "middle person" for the photographer I can do that.  If you want to contact them on your own, here is their information:  Swentowsky Photography; email:  swentowsky@sbcglobal.net; phone:  1 916 488 1130.  I can be reached at 530 662 2320 or email - gmadee4@att.net  if you need to contact me.

Gary Wegener (Wegener) (1966)

I have uploaded the teacher lists from Robert Cowing, Burke Fong, and Anne Douglass (Loud).  Thanks for the leg work. I added the Class of 66 teachers that were missing, so that leaves us short the teachers from '60, '61 (thanks Kathy Caldwell Jones for the early 60s....) '68, '69.  If anyone from those classes had an interest, let me say it was a trip down memory lane for me when I did our class.  (If you do do it, the best way may be to go to the "Teacher Profiles" page for an alpha listing of what is in there now, flip through the teacher section of your Ilex and put a check mark by those missing, then go back and type a list of those names (one name to a line in either word doc or excel spreadsheet), and send to me.  It took me 15 nostalgia filled minutes.)

I can add the teachers (those at WHS in the '60s) to the In Memory section.  (When you click the "In Memory" tab and the page comes up, the Wolves (classmate list) is shown first, followed at the end by the Teachers.)  In Memory comments are also indicated by the red rose, next to the teacher's name in the "Teacher Profiles" tab.  (we need a section on marriages and grand kids).
