I wanted to drive; I worked at the Leithold Drug Store to earn money to buy a car (1950 Mercury) and gas.

The day John Kennedy was elected, I had an accident that ripped the front end of my car sideways (totaled). No one was hurt.

The better news was that I then bought my uncle's '49 Olds and souped it up.
My unhappy day was when the WDLD Police told me to remove the noisy mufflers! (The wording was to "Fix It"!)
