Mahlon Hile (1964)

Had an issue on Thursday 9/27 morning and had to hurry off the cardio.  Quick onset (D) went to the doctor got a prescription for Ciprofloxacin an antibiotic, provided samples for Quest labs to culture and check for toxins.  Three days of medication and I am feeling better.  Stay hydrated.  Hope to have the results back soon.  Have felt lethargic just plain tired and not hungry..  It was and excellent event and am looking forward to our next get together.  The memory wall is troubling as we lived through the turbulent 60's and for what ever reason those that are lost are still our friends and contributed to who and what we are today.  Learned alot about life when I was in the Army and now attend military reunions and try to help out our wounded warriors that we have today.  Have visited numerous military bases and training facilities and I am very proud of the young men and women that take time out of their lives to give us the freedom to pursue own goals and make choices that are unafforded to most people in the world.  Direction, leadership, compassion and a sense of purpose seems to be their take aways.  11B's never know if there will be a tomorrow or you will make it through the night.  Try to make today the best day so clean up stuff when walking through the parking lot, take in an extra cart, read to those grandchildren and kiss them good night and remember rumors become evil when fertilized with BS and your friends are your friends. Being sick tends to make us introspective,,, sorry

I guess I can attribute how I feel to the reunion dinner.  I hadn't thought much about it..but, I don't have much energy, I tire easily and my body is still experiencing chills.  These symptoms have been ongoing since September 15th.

I also got ill but just for a day.   I only took a bite of the salad.  Fred was ill for four days and he ate everything.  I'm suggesying it was the salad, since I only had a bite.   So add us to the list.

Again, like to reemphasize that if you are still experiencing symptoms, medical folks say it is time to see a doctor.  And if you contribute a stool sample, it will help identify what is going on.  We will be closing the survey soon, so if you went to the reunion, please be sure to take 5 minutes and complete it.  It will help the health dept.  Thanks, and again, apologies that this happened.

                                        R.I.P  LIZ

It is with sadness that I post the passing of our dear friend and classmate Liz, Class of "62". I sent her a birthday email on her birthday and received back from her husband Bill that Liz had passed away 8-5-18 after a long illness with much suffering. I responded with my condolences and ask permission if I could post her obituary for her friends and classmates. He replied that they had removed themselfs from public life with her declining health issues and that it was her wish to just fade away. I respect their wishes and pray for his comfort and support. Liz was truly one of a kind, and I will always remember her.

Rest in His arms, His peace and love.  May God keep and comfort your family as they struggle to embrace your abscnce and give them peace to walk and accept their grief of you no longer being with them. Norma, So sorry to hear of your loss of George, your brother.  Phillis Berrettoni Storz was married to my cousin, Kurt Storz so I remember your family very well.  And I remember George particularly for his big laugh and fun personality.  I pray to God that He will bless your family with peace and the strength to get through this challenging time.

Steve Takimoto (1966)

This message is related to Gary Wegener's Post #6300, and "Portal to Class Pages - 1969": My sister, Lois Takimoto (Kawata)(1969) and Jim Northup (1969) participated in the 2018 Walk to Defeat ALS at Raley Field this past Saturday. This was Lois' 18th Walk, since they started, and Jim's first, I believe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages about 2 to 5 years from time of diagnosis. Jim is the longest living American with ALS. Jim was diagnosed 40 years ago. Lois was diagnosed 20 years ago.

I need to close out the survey on GI problems from the reunion.  Thanks to all who responded; 135 to date.  I will deactivate the survey later tonight, so if you or others you know haven't responded and want to, please hurry.  We intend to get the survey over to the health departments, with some basic summary information, to give them a more complete picture.

Lois and Jim, you two are incredible; thanks for sharing the photo (and your life experiences).

Funny serendipity: When I was in Russia, one stop was at a ~20 acre park designed for mobility impaired children (I was told Russia has no ADA laws, so accommodations are very rare, and the mobility impaired found it very difficult to navigate outside).  The park was a beautiful, major undertaking by the Rotary Clubs in the city, and close to completion.  I coincidently arrived when the Rotarians and Rotoractors were holding an Ice Bucket Challenge at the park to raise money for ALS.  I had no clue what an Ice Bucket Challenge was, but promised $100 and willingly got dunked.  However I never figured out the how the donation part worked.  So now with your help, I just did it online through this link for 2018 Sacramento Walk to End ALS: http://web.alsa.org/site/TR?fr_id=13256&pg=pfind

You both are my heros.

We closed the Reunion GI survey and are sending the results to the Health Dept and hope to meet with them next week to get some conclusion to this issue.  No smoking gun yet.

Steve, It is great to see that Lois is doing OK. I'll pass that information on to Jean, Alan, and Ruth.

Although we are all getting up in age, we have good memories of growing up on the farm. Our families lived close to each other, and we went through high school and grammar school together. Because both of our families went graduated from college, that proves that family emphasis on education and knowledge helped our decision making. I read the philosopher Cicero said that although our physical abilities are not as strong as we age, our mental maturity more than offsets. Please wish Lois well from me.
