Clarification...
The picture is in Heroes Square in Budapest.  We were there a week ago for a short vacation.  It is a very economical city to visit and it is inexpensive to travel within Europe.  It is one of the most overlooked capital cities of Europe with lots of history.  This is a picture of the Hungarian Parliament Building.  It used to be two cities Buda and Pest until they became one city.  They sit on two sides of the Danube River.  This is a night photo on a river cruise.  The two girls are Patricia's daughters.....

Down Memory Lane.  Do any of you remember the old Vallejo & Northern RR Depot on the corner of Second and Main Street? Not the Repo new bldg, but the old original one.  This is a 1912 Postcard showing it

Yes Greg I believe I went with my mom when I was four or five to visit Aunt in Chowchilla, CA. Love the train to this day! Steam engines are the best. Traveled Germany, France, Luxemburg by train. One thing Europe trains are on time! Enjoyed them all.
Went to Glacier National Park by train and saw moose, fox, elk, and beautiful scenery.
Train took me down coast of California and that was a great one, ocean views and all the towns along the ocean just gorgeous ride!
USA ride was around trip of USA. I recommend it highly. You pick your lay overs!

Greg:

I was born in '48 and I remember going inside the train station at a very young age when the tracks were still in the street.

Linda:

I stayed at a motel in the town of East Glacier across the street from the train station and the National Park. I'll never forget when a westbound train pulled in and about 30 Amish folks debarked and walked over to the lodge just past the park entrance. That is the first and only time I have seen Amish all dressed in their traditional garb. With it's spectacular views, Glacier National Parl is a popular destination for motorcyclists. We live in Eastern WA and have made the drive to Glacier and stayed in Whitefish a few times. Alas, my driving days are over for any destination past the doctors office and the supermarket.

Yes Joel, I also stayed in that hotel then walked across the street each day caught the bus that took you to all the sites in the park. A wonderful place to have a great vacation. Lots of good stories told by the locals!
Great bear country!
I now live in midst of Amish community here in Michigan. They now speak to us English, as they call us. Wonderful Christ centered people and a giving spirit are the Amish.
Thanks Joel for sharing your story with us. Made me remember more. It was a trip on my bucket list. A true treasure of a National Park!

For Glacier please don't forget "Going to the Sun" road and the signs that said "Watch for Falling Rock" the famous lost indian.

The Woodland Train station also had a horse drawn trolly down Second street from Beamer Street to the train station. There is a trolly in the Heidrick Museum.

Thanks Joel for such great pics of Glacier travel. My bus they took the top off which gave us sun that was great. Fresh air, sunshine, and beautiful landscapes.

Thanks Bill for the chuckle of your humor. You are always greatly appreciated with making people smile.
Hope you will make the WHS60s Reunion, Sept. 9th, 2023.

Greg and Joel:  Thank you so much for the pictures shared.  I remember that Train Station right on the corner and I was very young.  We lived on Second Street when I was 2 years old and Dad taught at Beamer School. Dad would walk to School.   I remember the Street Cars coming down Second Street.  Dad had a big vegetable garden in the backyard.  Those were easy days.  I do remember years so far back.

Trolly from the Heidrick Museum as Bill Means mentioned.  (Nice place for a WHS Reunion at some time.)

I guess we are back to the old and comfortable in Woodland.  Sorry this type of facility was not selected for the current 1960s Reunion.  Feel the comfort of a building with level flooring and air like the Elks would be grand; but was not selected.  However I am sure the group of classmates will move around Woodland seeing framilier sights.

Pam Wohlfrom (Johnson) (1969)

Theresa, my husband and I have chaired several events at the Elks. It can only accommodate 150-200 people. We're hoping to have 500+ for the reunion!

I know Pam, just thinking of comfort for the elder people in a Woodland facility - example like the Elks.  Maybe one of the fair ground buildings  like the Home Economics Building can be utilized along with the grounds for accommodations.  Thank you Pam.

Eldon Larson (1964)

The class of 1964 has lost another great wolf. Michael Gale Bailey died May 1st, 2023 of a massive heart attack in Sonoma County. Funeral plans are pending. He was one of the good ones. May God hold the family in His arms and give them the comfort the need.

          Footprints in the sand poem.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belongings to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I hav noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set fo footprints . I don't understand why when I need you the most you would leave me."  The Lord replied:  "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you,". R.I.P. Mike

Hi Jim, the Decade Reunion team met last night and we welcome you to post your pictures on the chain link fence where we will be hanging the memorial boards. I suggest you make them hangable with zip ties, so they don't fly off if a wind comes up. Look forward to seeing you in Sept. Judy
