Thanks Tom, Paul Harvey was a great "Philosopher" and Ronald Reagan a great man with common sense.

Craig-You know a little bit about everything.  Just enough to get you into trouble.  That's where you're going wrong.  God belongs in your heart not your brain but I guess that's hard for you to understand since you most likely don't believe in God and that's your loss.  Psalm 14: 1-6

Tom, thanks for the great reminders of the wisdom of Paul Harvey and Ronald Reagan. I really miss the sanity of those in leadership/and on the radio waves.

Craig, I'm a Vikings fan; however, although the Packers are in our division, I have to applaud the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers and even root for the them when the Vikings aren't in the playoffs.  I must say though, that my allegiance will be with the New England Patriots if they make it!

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Do you ever wonder what he'd say relative to the actions of the black leaders of today? Today's leaders appear to be about division, hatred, and violence, quite the opposite of what he was about.

Golf....one of our favorite hobbies.  We're blessed to live on the 13th hole of the Cimarron Golf Course in AZ.  One of 4 great courses to play in our housing community.  Life is good...

How do you know that no one knows about death, life, God and things spiritual?  That is based on the assumption NOTHING is absolutely true, but that, once again, is just your opinion.  There may be millions of people that absolutely know about life, death, God and the rest.  There have been thousands who have willingly died for that belief, and why?  Because they truly believed they knew.....and one has to at least consider the possibility they did...and do.

I was once a liberal humanist, and I studied all the major world philosophies and religions.  In fact, I thought Christianity was the most boring, conservative, uninteresting religion on earth.  The religion of the older generation.  I didn't become a Christian because one day I was convinced, or I was pursuaded by some person, video, book, or movie, but rather because I believe I had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.  Those in the early church didn't preach a theology, but simply told people what they had seen and heard.  Not a religion, but an experience and relationship.

Back in the hippy dippy Jesus Freak days we were pretty effective in leading people to our Lord and Savior. It was a time before we knew anything. We didn’t know the epistles from the Apostles, but we did know what Jesus had done for each of us. That is mostly what we told people, and it was amazingly effective. ALL that we are asked to do is to tell people what we have seen and heard. We all know the gospel of Jesus Christ or it is likely we are not saved. How can we be saved, redeemed, and forgiven if we don’t know the gospel?

It is time to get simple. Maybe we can set aside all the politics, theology, intellect, and philosophies and try the simplicity of personal experience. All I know is that I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see. Jesus is personal. Eternal life is personal. Freedom is personal. A broken heart that is healed is personal. Vision is personal.

John 9:13-27 They brought the man who used to be blind to the Pharisees. The day that Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes was a Sabbath. So again the Pharisees asked him how he received his sight.

"He put mud on my eyes," he told them. "I washed and I can see."
Therefore some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for He doesn't keep the Sabbath!" But others were saying, "How can a sinful man perform such signs?" And there was a division among them. Again they asked the blind man, "What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?"

"He's a prophet," he said.

The Jews did not believe this about him-that he was blind and received sight-until they summoned the parents of the one who had received his sight. They asked them, "Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? How then does he now see?"
"We know this is our son and that he was born blind," his parents answered. "But we don't know how he now sees, and we don't know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he's of age. He will speak for himself."

His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him as Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue. This is why his parents said, "He's of age; ask him." So a second time they summoned the man who had been blind and told him, "Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner!"

He answered, "Whether or not He's a sinner, I don't know. One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!"

Then they asked him, "What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?"

"I already told you," he said, "and you didn't listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don't want to become His disciples too, do you?"

ACTS 4:18-20 So they called for them and ordered them not to preach or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, "Whether it's right in the sight of God [for us] to listen to you rather than to God, you decide; for we are unable to stop speaking about what we have seen and heard."

ACTS 22:14 Then he said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of His voice. For you will be a witness for Him to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now, why delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name.'

1 John 1:1-4 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed, and have touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life- that life was revealed, and we have seen it and we testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us- what we have seen and heard we also declare to you, so that you may have fellowship along with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

January 16 - Martin Luther King, Jr. a man of peace.  Amazing how we kill those leaders who try to help us the most.  May we all remember those great people.

You guys have to realize that attorneys are taught any means to an end.

You dont have to necessarly tell the truth, you can throw out any theory at the wall and hope it sticks.

You folks have to rember that most of the people holding office are attorneys or professional people who know more than we the common folks do,so we should agree with them and follow the rules as they see them with no question.

I need to give a shout out to the Packers and Aaron Rodgers!  I am fortunate enough to have Aaron from my town of Chico,CA.  I've had several chances to speak with him (before and after he became one of the greatist QB's ever) and he has always been very cordial.  What a joy to watch him play!  I would love to see him get to and win Super Bowl number 2.  With a little better defense he would probably have another 1 or 2.  Go Pack!

[Joel Childers (1966)]==Craig, your ramblings remind me of that Billy Joel song, "We Didn't Start the Fire." Ramble on....

Actually that should be taken as a compliment.  That song encapsulated an era.  Many of you (1965 & beyond...) were too young to understand it.  Don't you guys ever read History?  d.i.g. Œ

Don't understand why people are so down on Hillary and defend trump? Seems they aren't paying attention to what he's really like. Here's just another example of trump's past actions.

I hope he decides to testify under oath.

Craig Mayfield....

I always love to hear people who reject the Bible and Jesus say things like "be tolerant", or "you are supposed to be a Christian and you say that", or "it's ok to believe your stuff, but accept other people's stuff too".  There is a vast difference in tolerance, which essentially means to allow it to exist without taking violent actions against it, and acceptance, which means embracing it as equal or valid.

The Bible (and God/Jesus) are very, very intolerant.  In fact the end of the Bible illustrates just how intolerant they are.  Jesus said that He is the ONLY way, the ONLY truth, and the ONLY life.  He said there is no other besides Him, and no one can attain eternal life without Him.  Budha (Siddhartha Gitama) died looking for the way.  Never claimed to be the way, or to be a god, or to have found the way.  He simply taught revelations he discovered during his search.  Mohammad was a goat herder whose father was a tradesman and dealt with both the Jews and the Christians.  He married a rather wealthy woman which allowed him the luxury of spiritual pursuits.  Eventually he began his program of evangelism with the philosophy of convert or die.  Islam is a combination of Judiasm, Christianity, and private revelation which evolved over a few decades.

Hinduism parellels the beliefs of native Americans in some ways in that each tribe (community) had individual gods which they worshipped and served, but most had some gods in common.  In both cases there can be hundreds if not thousands of gods included.  In all cases their leaders lived, died and have a grave.  It is ONLY in Christianity where you will find an empty grave, even though Rome took efforts to avoid that occurence.

The Bible was written on three different continents, in three different languages, by 40+ others over a period of over 1500 years. Amazingly, there is unity throughout the entire Bible.  We can't even get two Psychologists to agree on a treatment or diagnosis.  Men spend their lives studying the complexities of the Bible and the manner in which each book is woven into the others.  I spent over a year just studying Moses Tabernacle, the materials used, the measurments, the colors, and the ordinances, and how they explain and parallel the books of the New Testament and prophets.  It is mind boggling.

When I hear men minimalize, trivialize and sometimes demean Christianity or the Bible it just leads me to the conclusion they do so out of ignorance.  Many have set out to disprove Scripture and ended up converting.  Some well known scientists have done the same.

Very funny, Monte . . . One Question to help you with yours:

Now I and Janet need your help. I can't help her because I was interested in Golf and not Religion and not Politics or "California Water" . . . besides . . .  she and Mike Miler already threatened me that if I did talk about such topics it would make them leave the web site." (SEE POSTS 4007 and 4009 10/28/2016)

So . . come on kids . . . get with it and entertain, cater to and make happy some of our sad members with conversation that will upllift and make them whole.  I know you can do it  . . .  if you will just try !

Thanks - Robert

I hope everyone realizes I was being totally sarcastic in suggesting "CA water issues" as a topic for this forum. But, truth is, that issue has just as many contentious sides to it as politics or religion--and there's no one right approach or point of view. AS TO GOLF (not stepping on any toes, I hope) but there are a myriad or pastimes/hobbies we all could post about. Mine is birding; anyone want to share their latest life list sighting, or perhaps a big day list? Craig remembers that I'm a 'farm girl'; how about we debate the merits of planting more almond orchards in the face of falling prices? Or the coming dust reduction regulations? Maybe some former FFA members will chime in on this.

Me--what I liked most about this forum was sharing the memories we've collectively stored; whether  causing the A&W or someone's 6th grade class pic at Beamer. Those are things we have in common. I think the main reason people don't comment on here, or even look at this site, is because it alienates them or they're afraid they're going to get bashed (don't want to be an UNPOPULAR POSTER) or we're tired of ALL the polarization we already have to deal with--Hey!! There's too much of that in the rest of the world. So, I'll put this out: what was the best field trip you took when you were in school? ( and p.s., I think Jerry Brown's Twin Tunnel proposal is really horrendously stupid!!)

Janet Long - There is not a lot of bird activity during this Spokane deep freeze. One brave Flicker makes his rounds every day...and the ubiquitous Starlings are always around. The coolest thing about where we are living now is, every evening around dusk, when I go out to get the mail, hundreds of honking Canada Geese in giant "V"s fly east to west from some feeding ground to their night time hang outs. It's an awesome sight  (and sound). The first thing I noticed when we moved here in May is California Quails running around the streets and sometimes hopping into our backyard. I haven't added a bird to my life-list in quite awhile. If you are a birder, you probably know about the Mt Tamalpais hawk and eagle migration. Very awesome. And here is one for your bucket list if you haven't already...go to High Island, TX and the many parks and sanctuaries around  Port Arthur and North Galveston Island in April and May. All the East Coast migrants go through there, not to mention all the beautiful local gulf birds. Best birding spot in the country, guaranteed.
