                           R.I.P. Bob

On the bottom of his year book photo is written:

                                     "The Roon"

"I make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes."

I had the opportunity to know Bob on a personal level in high school. He was one year older and had a car, plus we dated girls that were friends with each other so we often times double dated and he drove. He was always a gentleman and treated his girl friend with the utmost respect. Bob was a good man!  RIP my friend.

Glad to see the interest in updating military service on the site.  But "Public Service Announcement" You are the best person to update your own profile in the website.  Go to the Member Functions section in the left panel and then click on Edit Profile.  In particular, you can add your military service.  You can add narrative and you can control the privacy settings.

If you have any problems, give me a call 530 908 4914.

Just curious - I now have to log in with password just to read entries. I didn't used to have to do that. Has something changed?

Marilyn, I believe it has always been if you click the box you will stay online. Appears something has cleared your cookies and saved sites.

Listing of military service on the website...

Each classmates profile has a place for you to indicate military service.  When you do that,  an American flag shows up next to your name in the 'Classmate Profiles' listing for your graduation year.  When you fill in 'Branch of Service' , many folks add additional detail.  Common are 'Vietnam' or 'Germany' or...,  and/or years served ('66-71').   Main point is that you, the classmate, is responsible for filling it in.  The main exception is where an obituary lists military service and the profile doesn't, I update the profile accordingly.

The WHS60s listing of military service is different from Roberts list.  While he can update his list from what is in the profiles in the website, the individual classmate should update their profile as they feel is appropriate, since it is personal to them.

Well, Gary, we could go for more "squeaks"!?!

Bev Hukill (Nunes) (1969)

The posts from my classmates are so rare (not sure why) and I only did my Junior and Senior years at WHS; hence not many people on the Forum know me. But I'll chime in from time to time.... Not so sure if 'squeaks' is a good answer. wink

Howdy Follow Wofves....Gary, I understand your statement of keeping the thread of commentary on the site..........It does seem lite at present, but we all need to not let either "Politic's or Religion" drown out the forum......Those two items seem to inflame other or inspire them, me I'm just here to hopefully reminish (hope I spelled it right) about what happened during our four years at WHS be it classmates, teachers, clubs you know whatt we did and either got away with it, or surived it, but most of all learned from it........As we have grown older I find others of the group just don't ever post and saddly with the help of Robert, who keeps us up on those who passed on, we are learning every day our group is getting smaller........I do like hearing about everyone's grandkids and in some cases great-grandkids (now that's really getting up there).  Gary you have done a great job of keeping this site going, but as we age, we just don't do that much or is it just me?......I hope others will stay the coarse and keep this going as long as possible.........Side note, when all else fails, drop back and punt..........Peace Out Y'all......

To liven up the forum.... :

Maybe folks could throw out ideas of good things to share.  Like:

  • ?? An annual date where we share a picture of grandchildren born in the past 12 months?  If folks are concerned about privacy, maybe pics that obscure/hide the face?
  • Good books, in various categories.
  • Advice you would give a graduating senior?  Or an entering HS freshman.
  • What you like about where in the country or the world you live.
  • places you have visited that you would love to share some teasers about
  • what you want to do before you die (stolen from the wall on the Diggs building downtown.)

just some ideas...

Gary,  What was the prognosis from the Health Department on the food poisoning at the Reunion?  Any conclusive evidence?  Was it E coli or salmonella?

I think one of the problems with not of a lot of people not joining is that people dont know about this website I just learned about it last year through my sister, I tried despertly to find out about my 50 year reunion and kept looking in the paper and even on wjusd web site and thus missed it and then found out about this website last year and I missed but it ok I will be there at our 100 one now
