Ih no. I've often thought about Mrs. Sadler. She was a great teacher. I learned alot from several classes I took from her: great sewing classes and food prep.

Anna Lopez (Northam) (1963)

I had her for sewing & food prep also. I don't know if she sewed her own clothes but she always dressed very well.

OK,  I have to weigh in on the Basque discussion.  I have moved to Gardnerville, NV and we have a terrific Basque restaurant called JT`s and it has wonderful food.

Thank you Anne Loud for tell us about the passing of Julia D. Sadler.  It was a lovely story of her life, especially about her red roses raised and honored by Jackson and Perkins for her talents. A lovely Woodland High School teacher who touched many.  We are  richer for those who have taught us.

Phyllis, I have eaten at JTs several times when I lived in Reno.Very good food. The trouble with most Basque places is they have family style dining and call it  Basque.

I always enjoyed Mrs Sadler's homemaking class, and remember her fondly.  RIP Mrs. Sadlerheart

Mrs. Sadler did sew most of her clothes. She wore business like suits and her hair was in a bun with heels. Is that how you guys remember her? She had a smile that made you feel important but she sure could get frustrated with those girls that just didn't want to learn.
Are there any other teachers still alive? My dad died about 3 years ago, Mr. Smith who taught typing.

Mr. Peter Weisick, remains activie and travels with his wife.  I exchange Christmas cards with him.  A wonderful man and teacher.  Mr. and Mrs. Brown are very active and still have all that humor.  Two lovely grown daughters, and a great granddaughter at UC Davis.

Mr. Brown lives in Elk Grove I think. Tried to reach out once but no response.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown (Hal and Ellie)  remain in the same West Street home in Woodland, just before Gibson Road.    1223 West Street.

I heard that Mr. Davis is still in Woodland.   He and Mr. Shermeyer were quite the comical team.

Dennis Schermeier is still teaching- Math at WCC and working on an organic alfalfa farm! Also, she only taught  at WHS one year, but my freshman English teacher, Vesta Peart, looks great, shops at Raley's and farms almonds.

Interesting - weird music. Any other info about why WHS was chosen for the film?  Thanks for sharing.

I got Mr. Brown mixed up with Dan Holmes. Mr. Holmes lives in Elk Grove. He taught business classes.

It was weird music!  What were Woodland High's colors when we were there?  The uniforms the band and the cheerleaders were wearing sure didn't seem right to me.  I keep thinking we were green and white but I could be remembering this all wrong.

Don Murdoch (1962)

Gail,  WHS colors have always been orange and white/with black trim on uniforms.  Wasn't Lee or Douglass green/white?

Joseph Duzan (1968)

You’re correct Don Murdock!!

Gail Smith (Maxwell) (1964)

Thanks Don.  I was totally remembering it wrong.  If Lee was green and white then that is what I was thinking about.  If not, well...old age you know!

Gail, Old age. What is that.  Who are you?  LOL

Old age is better than the alternative!  I’m thankful for every birthday that comes around.

This message in any way is not to discredit those who have described the colors of Woodland High School.  The true colors of WHS are orange and white--no other colors, especially black.  It has been an ongoing battle for administration to conform coaches to adhere to the true colors.  For many reasons, black has been incorporated throughout the years, many times superseding white, to the dismay of many alumni.

05/06/19 03:14 PM #5326

Joel Childers (1966)

Black is the absence of visible light and is therefore not a color. Black is used in clothing to make colors stand out (unless you are Zorro or Batman). I think gray is another "color" that, along with black,  I don't give a rats patooty about if it shows up on our beloved WHS orange and white uniforms, so long as it doesn't overwhelm.
