I just heard a song sung by James Taylor, "Moon River". It reminded me of another time and attitude. Somewhere around 1964/65.

Anybody else have a favorite musical memory from back in the day?

Merry Christmas to all.

The Class of 62 reunion committee is hard at work planning our 60th reunion.  It will be held at the American Legion hall on Bush St. on August 27, 2022.  It will be a luncheon affair from 11 AM - 3 PM. The menu is yet to be determined. Also a no-host bar. There will be a Sunday brunch the following day as we had for the 55th reunion. Location to be determined.    For those classmates who have moved or changed their e-mail addresses the last 5-10 years, please forward that updated contact information to me or Marian (Flores) Walker.  This will probably be our last reunion so all classmates are encouraged to attend.   Forward any questions to me at donmurdoch44@comcast.net or call (916) 425-4523.  Please pass the word to other classmates.   Thanx for your support and cooperation.

Regarding the 60th reunion of the Class of 62:  The Class of 61 did not have a 60th reunion this year.  The Class of 62 is inviting the Class of 61 to our 60th reunion next August.  If you are interested, please contact me with your contact information so we can send you an invitation when we mail them in March, or so.  We would love to have you.  The more, the merrier.

How about "Hot Rod Linclon".   It was a hit first in 1955, it was  #1 for 6 months in 1960 , then again in 1971 for Commander Cody.  Still play it in my band sometimes today.

Hey Monte.  Thats how I met Anita back in 1965 when I was in a band with her cousin Franky Lopez.  As she was good friends with Marsha that's when I  that showed up at your place by the river for horse back riding and met the rest of your family.  Your dad got us tickets for the Rolling Stone concert at the Memorial  Auditorium and drove us there that summer.  Matter of fact, we are playing at Father Paddy's Irish Pub in Woodland on Jaruary 8, 2022. 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Christmas is always a thought of Epperson's big showroom with a large decorated tree which was lite all night.   I took this off the Woodland Forum to share.  Loved this memory of Christmas.  Look how large those Cadillacs were, all solid car.  Beautiful!   Bill Wallace's Father use to work there.  He always bought an Oldsmobil, of which I drove once  Another great car.

Gary,  we played there, Mousys, the Graduate also.  Really liked Shakeys Pizzas in Sacramento.  Drummers dad would sneak beer for us at break times out in back.  (21 and older.  Bands could entertain but take our breaks outside.)

My sister, Mary, had a tree land on her Grass Valley, Eskaton home!  Thank goodness she was not hurt!!! Now that has been one big problem.  The tree was removed yesterday with a big crane.  Now for the hole in the roof and other damages to be repaired.  The country with pine trees and snow is pretty, but there are issues.  Merry Merry!!!  One reason I live in Roseville, just Crepe Myrtles around my home, small trees.

Christmas in Woodland, California; about 1965, 6 North McKinley.  There were packages wrapped from the Discoveries in Davis which is no longer there.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am thinking about my classmate Dave McNary who died a year ago today. I noticed that his name is listed in the In Memory section but there's no red rose and no information about his death. If you do a search on him, there are a couple of articles on him by entertainment newspapers. He was a reporter for the well-known Variety newspaper in Los Angeles so they wrote about his death and life. Wikipedia also has a bio on him. That's impressive. May he rest in peace.

The red rose indicates when someone leaves a message about the person who has passed. Classmates can add articles about other classmates to this Message Forum when they wish.

Hope this helps.

Joan, thanks for your explanation. It did help. I have had problems in the past posting comments so my brother and Gary were great about posting comments for me. Looks like I'm able to post them myself now. Could be dangerous. Lol.

Happy New Year! Hope 2022 is a great year for you and the world.

Gary and Joan, thanks for adding Dave McNary's obituary to the In Memory section. I liked that you included his high school photo. I read the comments and didn't realize he was the emcee at our 50th class reunion. Great he was able to see our classmates. I didn't make the reunion but still have the poster signed by attendees hanging on the wall. Great classmates! Thanks.

Don, I was diagnosed with ALS in January, 1999. But my speech was slurred a year earlier. Actually, my original diagnosis was bulbar palsy. I had been to Forbes Norris ALS Center and they confirmed ALS. So I asked my Kaiser neurologist if bulbar palsy was a form of ALS. She explained that since my voice was all that was affected, it might not progress to other parts of my body. I didn't understand and continued to ask her questions. When she said it could affect my respiratory system and looked like she was going cry, I finally understood. I could die before it affected the rest of my body. By the grace of God, I am still here.

I heard you are a fellow PALS, person with ALS. When were you diagnosed? I hope you are doing well.

Lois, I was diagnosed in July 2007.  Am still able to function.  No energy or strength but otherwise somewhat okay. I get check-ups every 6 months and there has been little change the last few years.  Have been told that I am one in a million. Last July, the nerves in my left eye malfunctioned and I had an optic stroke leaving me blind in my left eye. Other than that, I have been extremely lucky.  14 1/2 years and counting.

Don, it sounds like you're doing great for 14 1/2 with ALS. I think it's amazing that 3 WHS grads lived with ALS for so long. I really miss my email buddy Jim Northup. He was diagnosed in 1981 and died in 2019. So, 38 years, 23+ years for me so far, and 14 1/2+ for you so far is incredible.

Thanks to the Message Forum I was able to connect with Jim several years ago. Kathy posted a comment about her brother so I contacted her and she told him to email me. Lol.

Don, email is a lot easier for me. I would love to talk to you more but think this is not the best forum for that. My email address is Loiskawata@gmail.com if you want to email me. Thanks.
